JAKARTA - Ahead of the opening of the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) which will be held today, October 2 at the Lukas Enembe Stadium, PT PLN (Persero) has prepared an electricity supply of 2.2 megawatts (MW). In support of the opening ceremony which was originally attended by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), PLN has also prepared a Zero Down Time Area system or electricity service without blinking in a special area.

PLN President Director Zulkifli Zaini said this special system was previously successfully implemented in Jakarta and Palembang at the 2018 Asian Games, where PLN managed to control electricity without flickering during the event.

The Zero Down Time Area system is built with such a network configuration and a prepared protection system. So that when there is a disturbance at one point it will automatically be backed up by the system. Genset and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) will continue to operate when there is a match, so that when there is a power failure, it will stay on without blinking because there is a UPS.

To support this system, PLN has also prepared 129 units of mobile generators with a capacity of 100 kW, 200 kW to 500 kW. In addition, 55 units of mobile substation (UGB), 45 units of UPS Mobile, 7 units of mobile cable (UKB) and 4 units of mobile cable and cubicle (UKKB) were also prepared.

Zulkifli said that electricity reliability was an important key to the success of PON XX Papua, especially at the stadium, which was previously named the Papua Bangkit Main Stadium.

Furthermore, Zulkifli admitted that the electricity system in supporting PON XX Papua is quite complex, because there are several cities that need to maintain electrical reliability. In the next 15 days, PLN must ensure that the reliability of electricity in 45 venues in Jayapura, Jayapura, Timika and Merauke regencies will not have the slightest problem.

"God willing, with the preparations that we have made for how long, everything went smoothly and well. But once again, we PLN will try our best to keep electricity reliable from time to time," he said in a written statement.

Seeing the preparation process being carried out, Zulkifli is optimistic that there will be no significant obstacles that will disrupt this very important national moment for Indonesia, especially Papua.

"How do we carry out our national duty to maintain a national event like this. For that we must also maintain the reliability of electricity at 230 strategic points that support the implementation of PON XX Papua. Congratulations on duty, all PLN friends, let's work together to maintain reliability electricity and always illuminates Indonesia," he said.

For your information, the Lukas Enembe Stadium, which is located in Harapan Village, Nolokla Village, East Sentani District, Jayapura Regency, Papua was built during 2016-2019 and has a capacity of more than 40,000 spectators.

This stadium uses DMX technology LEDs that can follow the beat of music with a power of 1,800 lux. Not only that, the perimeter scoring board or digital scoreboard installed on both sides of the stands is also imported from Europe. Likewise with 88 units of sound system equipment imported directly from Japan.

"The entire splendor of this stadium requires reliable electrical support and will be fully supplied by PLN," he said.

Meanwhile, PLN's Regional Business Director for Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua & Nusa Tenggara, Syamsul Huda said that the power adequacy in 4 PON XX Papua clusters is very safe and sufficient, both the Jayapura, Jayapura Regency, as well as Timika and Merauke systems are more than adequate.

Furthermore, he said, to secure the opening ceremony of PON XX Papua, PLN uses an electrical system from 3 feeders. This system uses a loop system from substation to substation that is interconnected and protected by a differential relay, so that when a disturbance occurs it can be localized to the related segment without turning off the customer substation.

Meanwhile, the backup of the electricity supply for the event, which is planned to be attended by 10,000 spectators, comes from PLTD Waena through GI Sentani.

"Our spirit is that we strive for critical points that cannot be blinked. Especially for the opening ceremony later and the other match points, which number 45," said Huda.
