JAKARTA - The handling of COVID-19 in Indonesia continues to improve and cases decrease, continuing the trend of improvement that has occurred since early August. The number of active cases as of 27 September 2021 was 40,270 cases, a decrease of 92.98 percent from the peak of active cases data as of 24 July 2021 (574,135 cases).

Likewise the number of Daily Confirmed Cases, which for 6 consecutive days was below 3,000 cases. This condition must be maintained and maintained, by building awareness of the potential for new waves to emerge.

The rate of spread of cases seen from the Reproduction Number (Rt) which is below 1, shows that Indonesia has experienced a significant improvement. From ourworldindata.org data, it was recorded that as of July 1, 2021, Indonesia's Rt was 1.35. However, on September 21, 2021, it has decreased sharply so that Indonesia's Rt is 0.62 (much lower than Singapore's 1.71 and Malaysia's 0.92).

Rt 0.62 means that every 1 case of COVID-19 infects 0.62 people on average, so the number of case transmissions continues to decrease. This means that the rate of transmission of cases in Indonesia is quite under control.

"The rate of spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia is increasingly under control, where the Rt of all provinces has been below 1. The five provinces with the highest Rt value are Maluku (0.88); Gorontalo (0.86); Central Java (0.82); DKI Jakarta (0.82) and Banten (0.79)," said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, in a virtual press conference related to PPKM results, in Jakarta, Monday, December 27 yesterday.

The Positivity Rate has also consistently shown a downward trend since late July, and last week the average weekly (7DMA) Positivity Rate was 1.44 percent, while on September 26 it was 1.18 percent. The number of people being examined (Testing) has experienced a sharp increase since mid-August.

For outside Java and Bali, the trend of confirmed cases per 100 thousand inhabitants/week has improved/decreased in all (27) provinces, and as of September 26, only 1 province is still at the TK-3 Level, namely North Kalimantan, there are 2 Provinces at the Kindergarten Level. -2, namely East Kalimantan and Bangka Belitung, while the other 24 provinces are already at the TK-1 level.

In a Limited Meeting (Ratas) on the Evaluation of PPKM on September 27, 2021, President Joko Widodo gave directions emphasizing (1) Implementation of Face-to-face Learning (PTM) must be carried out more strictly, because it involves tens of millions of students and university students; (2) Arrival arrangements from abroad, both Indonesian citizens and foreigners, to guard against the threat of the entry of new variants; (3) The achievement of the vaccination target needs to be continuously pursued.

"The President reminded that increasing mobility in the field needs to be accompanied by caution, and the achievement of the vaccination targets that have been set must continue to be pursued," explained Coordinating Minister Airlangga.

According to data from the Committee for Handling COVID-19 and National Economic Recovery (KPC-PEN) as of September 26, 2021, National Active Cases were recorded at 42,769 cases, with distribution in Java-Bali at 35.75 percent and Outside Java-Bali at 62.84 percent.

Since the beginning of the level-based PPKM (data from August 9 to September 26), the number of Active Cases outside Java-Bali has continued to decline, with the highest decline occurring in the Nusa Tenggara region by 89.74 percent, followed by Sumatra by 89.06 percent, Kalimantan by 85.92 percent, Sulawesi 84.10 percent, and Maluku-Papua 82.30 percent; while in Java-Bali cases decreased by -93.36 percent.

The National Recovery Rate (RR) is 95.62 percent, better than the Global RR which was recorded at 89.94 percent, while the RR in Java-Bali is 95.94 percent and Outside Java-Bali is 94.96 percent.

Meanwhile, the National Case Fatality Rate (CFR) was 3.36 percent, still higher than the Global CFR which was recorded at 2.05%, while the Java-Bali CFR was 3.50 percent and Outside Java-Bali was 3.08 percent.

The results of the evaluation of the implementation of PPKM this week show that outside Java-Bali there has been a significant improvement from week to week, where for the Provincial level there are no longer Provinces with Level 4, there are 5 Provinces with Level 3 (Kep. Bangka Belitung, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Aceh, Papua), as many as 21 Level 2 Provinces and there is 1 Province that is already Level 1, namely Lampung.

As for the Regency/City level, the results of the assessment showed significant improvements, where the number of Districts/Cities with Level 4 and Level 3 experienced a sharp decline, and the number of Districts/Cities with Level 2 and Level 1 experienced an increase. Currently, there is only 1 Regency/City with Level 4, namely Kab. Bangka and there are 76 regencies/cities with Level 3. While those at Level 2 are 275 regencies/cities, and there are already 34 regencies/cities with Level 1.

"Of the 10 regencies/cities that implemented PPKM Level 4 outside Java-Bali, there were improvements to the weekly assessment level, i.e. 2 regencies/cities experienced direct improvements to Level 2 (Banjarmasin and Kutai Kartanegara), and 7 regencies/cities improved to Level 2 level. 3.
