Ahead Of The XX Papua PON, Angkasa Pura I Beautifies Sentani Airport

JAKARTA - PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) is making improvements to beautify or beautify Sentani Airport ahead of the implementation of PON XX and Peparnas XVI. PON XX will be held from October 2-15, while Peparnas XVI will be held from November 2-15.

Reporting from Antara, Tuesday, September 14, Sentani Airport Public Relations, Surya Eka, admitted that improvements were made to beautify the airport as well as to complete various supporting facilities and infrastructure, including the extension of the runway. The airport beautification or beautification work is targeted to be completed by the end of September 2021.

The beautification of the terminal is carried out by renovating the interior such as in the departure, check-in, arrival areas, toilets by adopting local wisdom and typical Sentani carving motifs, as well as the passenger terminal and overlaying the runway.

"The coating is done to increase the strength of the runway so that the Boeing B737 800 NG and Boeing B737 900ER aircraft can land smoothly", said Surya.

Sentani Airport currently has a runway with dimensions of 3,000 meters x 45 meters with an apron capacity of 13 parking stands for narrow-body aircraft, eight parking stands for cargo aircraft, and 11 parking stands for small propeller aircraft.

The largest aircraft that can be served at this time are the B-737 800 NG and 900 ER, said Surya, adding that the terminal building has an area of 14,300 square meters (two floors) and the waiting room capacity can accommodate 2,045 people.
