JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said Japan will participate in managing the Patimban Port in Subang, West Java in December this year. Japan's involvement here is to operate the car terminal and container terminal.

Budi said an Indonesia-Japan consortium would also be formed soon. The consortium consists of PT Pelabuhan Patimban Internasional (PPI) from Indonesia and Toyota Tsusho Corporation from Japan.

"We will conduct the first activity in Patimban by the consortium in December. That later there are several things that we need to resolve with the Japanese consortium, I have conveyed to all officials in Japan," he said in a virtual press conference, Tuesday. , September 7th.

For your information, the target is one of the results of Budi Karya's visit to Japan to meet a number of officials in the country of Sakura and other related parties. During his visit, Budi was accompanied by the deputy chairman of the DPR Rahmat Gobel along with representatives from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investments and other delegates.

Budi said Indonesia had conveyed to the Japanese representatives to support the acceleration of the formation of a consortium of Patimban Port operators from two countries. According to Budi, the Japanese consortium will follow what Indonesia will agree on.

"So the Japanese consortium will follow what we agreed on. Of course this is a B2B (business to business) activity. So business rules will be followed. So they will start this December," he explained.

According to Budi, the Japanese government will support the immediate operation of the Patimban Port and invite automotive companies and port operators in Japan to form a consortium with Indonesian companies.

"The timeline will start operating in December, being delivered, this is in the final stages they will complete. Of course they promise that this will go well and we will start operating in December," he said.
