JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) of the Republic of Indonesia, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno confirmed that he would relax the requirements for submitting Government Incentive Assistance (BIP) for tourism and creative businesses in the 3T (Front, Remote and Disadvantaged) area. This is done in order to present partiality while at the same time encouraging equitable development.
The good news was conveyed by Sandiaga Uno in a virtual discussion with the Regent of Morotai, Benny Laos, which was also attended by hundreds of creative and creative business players from Morotai, North Maluku on Thursday, September 3.
On that occasion, Sandiaga held a dialogue with the Morotai Regency Government (Pemkab) represented by the Head of the Morotai Regency Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Ida Arsyad regarding the request for leniency on a number of requirements in the BIP submission.
"Which requirements do you feel are heavy? I will evaluate them," asked Sandiaga Uno.
Hearing Sandiaga's question, Ida also said that the burdensome thing was the preparation of the deed of establishment for the business. Then, he also asked for a minimum business period of two years.
Sandiaga said the aspirations had been recorded. He has also instructed the Deputy for Investment and Industry of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to evaluate so that the BIP program can be right on target, on the right benefits and on time.
"There are two Government Incentive Assistance, one is regular, the requirements are quite heavy. But the other is a Business Safety Net, which is much looser (requirements), hopefully it can also be accessed by business actors in Morotai," said Sandi.
On this occasion, the Regent of Morotai Benny Laos expressed his hopes in front of Sandiaga Uno. He hopes that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and other ministries/institutions can produce policies that favor the people in the 3T area, such as Morotai. The reason is because the development in Indonesia's border areas is included in the Nawacita program promoted by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
"The President's good intentions in developing the eastern Indonesia region cannot be realized because it is not apple to apple, because the terms and standards are (referring to) Jakarta," he said.
"This is very burdensome and difficult for us. We ask for the Minister's help so that various things can be made easier, both in terms of the number of conditions and time, so that we can follow the policies of the central government," he added. The Governor of DKI Jakarta admits that there are shortcomings in determining policies that are not accompanied by facts on the ground. Therefore, in order to present partisanship, Sandiaga Uno emphasized that he would provide discretion for tourism and creative business actors in the 3T area.
"Thank you, Regent, I think it's very fair, I also get the same feedback that we sometimes make policies in Jakarta without seeing the reality on the ground. areas that are indeed pursuing and are building massively to be able to achieve the target," he said.
Sandiaga said that these tourist destinations and creative economy centers need support, both infrastructure and human resources. According to him, this will be collaborated together in the future.
