PGN Distributes First Natural Gas To Pertamina RU VI Balongan

JAKARTA - PT PGN as Pertamina Gas Subholding is committed to supporting the energy needs of the Pertamina Group Refinery. One of them is by distributing the initial natural gas (Gas In) to Pertamina Refinery Unit (RU) VI Balongan.

PGN and PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional have signed a Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement for Refinery Unit VI Balongan on July 30, 2021, with a gas distribution volume of 10 BBTUD and subsequently increasing to 27 BBTUD starting November 2021. As for the distribution volume in 2022-2023 it is Rp. 30 BBTUD.

PGN's Director of Strategy and Business Development, Heru Setiawan, stated that the distribution of gas to Pertamina RU VI Balongan (Gas-In) is a form of PGN's commitment as the Gas Subholding in providing energy, both natural gas, to support the fulfillment of gas needs for the refinery sector. In addition, as a synergy within the Pertamina Group, especially through Sub Holding Refinery & Petrochemical.

“Gas Subholding is running the Pertamina Refinery gasification program, one of which is at RU VI Balongan. This is a positive milestone after the transformation of Oil and Gas Holding," said Heru in an official statement, Friday, August 27.

Utilization of natural gas for RU Balongan also provides added value to increase natural gas utilization, efficiency in operating costs at the Pertamina Refinery because it reduces the use of other energy as fuel at the Balongan refinery and the use of gas-based energy that is more environmentally friendly.

"In order to meet RU Balongan's gas needs to increase production to the maximum capacity of the refinery, PGN will continue to support the fulfillment of natural gas needs in the long term as planned in PGN's RJPP and in line with the ongoing energy transition program," said Heru. located in Indramayu (West Java) about ± 200 km east of Jakarta, with operational areas in Balongan, Mundu and Salam Darma. As a relatively new refinery that has implemented the latest technology, Pertamina RU VI Balongan has a high economic value.

RU VI Balongan has a strategic value in maintaining the stability of fuel supply to DKI Jakarta, Banten, parts of West Java and its surroundings, which are centers of business and government of Indonesia.

With superior products such as Premium, Pertamax, Pertamax Plus, Solar, Pertamina DEX, Kerosene (Kerosene), LPG, Propylene, RU VI Balongan has a great contribution, both for PT Pertamina and for the state.
