PPKM Etc. Doesn't Matter, Krakatau Steel Remains IDR 609 Billion Until July 2021, Sales Of IDR 17.7 Trillion, Exports Soaring 515 Percent

JAKARTA - PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk continues to record a positive trend of increasing performance. As of July 2021, Krakatau Steel achieved a net profit of IDR 609 billion.

President Director of Krakatau Steel Silmy said that this positive upward trend even occurred during the pandemic and July 2021 was a period in which PPKM was implemented continuously, but Krakatau Steel's performance was maintained.

"Sales of Krakatau Steel also increased by 44.1 percent. Until the July 2021 period, Krakatau Steel managed to record sales of Rp. 17.7 trillion," said Silmy in a written statement, Friday, August 27.

Krakatau Steel's export sales performance also increased in 2021. For the period until July 2021, the value of export sales increased 515 percent to Rp 1.98 trillion.

"Hot Rolled Coil and Hot Rolled Plate products are still the main products of Krakatau Steel which are exported to various countries in Europe such as Portugal, Spain, Italy, Germany, and Belgium, as well as to Malaysia and Australia," continued Silmy.

The initiation of increasing exports is part of Krakatau Steel's strategy to help sales performance of Krakatau Steel's steel products during the pandemic. In addition to improving performance in terms of sales, Krakatau Steel also continues to make sustainable efficiency efforts.

The efficiency efforts carried out were able to reduce fixed costs up to 19 percent and variable costs up to 11 percent in 2021.

"We are trying to keep this trend of increasing performance positive. In the future we will continue to develop a wider share of the export market," concluded Silmy.
