Inspection To Essential Industries That Operate 100 Percent, Minister Of Industry Satisfied Entrepreneurs Obey Health Protocol

JAKARTA - The Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita conducted unannounced inspections of a number of companies operating at 100 percent capacity during the current Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) period.

According to the Minister of Industry, the opening of activities in the manufacturing sector is fully devoted to companies that have export and domestic orientation and is divided into two shifts by adhering to strict health protocols.

"I would like to report that since the last three days, the government has tested operational health protocols in companies based on the Operational License and Industrial Activity Mobility (IOMKI) in the essential sector category," he said in an official statement quoted by VOI, Sunday, 22 August.

This time, the Minister of Industry visited a facility owned by PT Gajah Tunggal, which produces motor vehicle tires. During the inspection, he expressed his appreciation because the company had implemented procedures for handling and preventing COVID-19 in the industrial environment.

“This is one of the main criteria in conducting trials. In addition, those who already have IOMKI are required to report regularly every Tuesday and Friday. Then, the company is in a Level 4 PPKM status area, has carried out worker vaccinations, and uses the PeduliLindung application as a screening method," he said.

Based on the IOMKI report, PT Gajah Tunggal has more than 130 export destinations, which include the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The company, which was founded in 1951, has employed up to 16,084 people, and 12,620 employees who have participated in the vaccination program.

PT Gajah Tunggal's production capacity reaches 157 million tires, the types of production include passenger car tires with rim sizes 12 inches - 20 inches, light truck tires, truck and bus tires, and motorcycle tires. Their total export volume since 1983 has penetrated 165 million tires.

The Minister of Industry hopes that, if within two weeks of this trial being successfully implemented, the government will open up opportunities for all essential industrial sectors to be able to work again 100 percent.

"But with a minimum note of two shifts, and implementing the PeduliLindung application," he said.

The Minister of Industry added that his party will carry out monitoring and evaluation for these two weeks in an effort to implement trials in the essential industrial sector.

"We are optimistic that if the utilization and productivity of the industrial sector can be increased again, it will be able to spur its contribution in encouraging higher economic growth," he concluded.
