JAKARTA - Chairman of the Central Governing Body of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (BPP Hipmi) Mardani H. Maming said young entrepreneurs must appear as fighters to help revive the economy during the pandemic.

"It's time for young people to come to the country to interpret Indonesia's 76th independence day with the spirit of being an economic warrior," said Mardani, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, August 18.

Mardani stated that young people who are full of ambition and creativity must continue to be nurtured to be a trigger for the spirit of building a business without giving up.

As was the case during the COVID-19 pandemic, young people were judged to be superior, armed with mastery of the use of digital information technology, which is now dominated by the online market.

Hipmi members, the majority of whom are Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are also the nation's big capital, considering that the Indonesian economy is supported by around 64 million MSMEs or 99 percent of the total business actors.

"Hipmi members must work hand in hand in synergy with the local government to ensure the economy continues to run. Remember, the national labor absorption capacity is 97 percent at the MSME level," explained the owner of PT Batulicin Six Sembilan.

In addition to continuing to struggle to run the business wheel to spur economic growth, Mardani also reminded the concern of all Hipmi members to support government programs related to handling the pandemic.

Currently, BPP Hipmi, who is commanded by the sons of the South Kalimantan region, who served as Regent of Tanah Bumbu for the two terms, is intensifying the COVID-19 vaccination program.

Nationally, Hipmi targets 50 thousand doses of vaccine to be injected. Starting from targeting coastal communities at the Muara Baru Modern Fish Market, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, currently vaccination is being carried out in Gresik, East Java and then Banten.

"After being vaccinated, the community was also given 5 kilograms of rice. We are grateful for the participation and support of Hipmi members and all those who have helped the success of this vaccination," said Mardani, who was named the youngest regent in Indonesia in 2010.
