Jokowi's Son-in-law, Mayor Bobby Nasution, Said That The Medan City Government Had Increased The Social Assistance Budget To Rp. 33 Billion

JAKARTA - The City Government (Pemkot) of Medan, North Sumatra, said it had increased the budget for social assistance (bansos) to Rp33 billion from the Medan City Regional Budget for residents affected by adjustments in this area.

"The total budget of more than Rp. 33 billion is allocated for direct assistance to the community, purely from the Medan City APBD," said Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution after attending a plenary meeting at the Medan City DPRD Building, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, July 27.

He said the more than Rp33 billion budget was for social assistance for a total of 100 thousand Medan City residents who were affected by the adjustment policy in this area from 12 July to 2 August 2021.

Last week, the Medan City Government distributed 51,000 social assistance packages, including packages of basic commodities consisting of 20 kilograms of rice, two kilograms of granulated sugar and one liter of edible oil.

"There are new problems, for sure economic problems. Today we try to overcome them to help the people of Medan City outside the state budget," said President Joko Widodo's son-in-law (Jokowi).

The mayor also admitted, during the adjustment period for level 4 with very strict health protocols, and reduced mobility will have an impact on economic conditions.

"We ask for help from all parties so that we can collect data for residents who have not received assistance so that they can be registered immediately," said Bobby Nasution.
