As A COVID-19 Emergency Hospital, PLN Prepares Electricity And UPS For Hajj Dormitory

JAKARTA - Pondok Gede Hajj Dormitory is prepared to become an Emergency Hospital for COVID-19 patients in handling the spike in cases that have occurred recently. PLN also supports these efforts by providing sufficient and reliable electricity.

General Manager of the PLN Main Distribution Unit for Greater Jakarta, Doddy Pangaribuan, said that his party had coordinated with the Hajj Dormitory, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, PT Wijaya Karya, and Pertamedika as the executor of the preparation of the Hajj Dormitory building as a COVID-19 Emergency Hospital.

According to Doddy, the total electrical power needed is 1,280,000 Volt Ampere (VA) consisting of 960,000 VA for 5 towers managed by the Ministry of Health. And 328,000 VA for 1 tower managed by Pertamedika and Jakarta Hajj Hospital.

"Electricity is supplied in layers equipped with a backup supply. If there is a disturbance in the main supply, the electricity will be transferred to a backup supply," he said in a written statement received by VOI, Thursday, July 8.

PLN, said Doddy, provided backup Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) with a total power of 700,000 VA. The electricity for the RSD uses a new electricity network outside the network already installed in the Hajj Dormitory. The Hajj Dormitory itself also has backup electricity from the generator set.

"The handling of COVID-19 patients requires reliable electricity, therefore PLN is ready to provide full support for these efforts", he said.

PLN was also present at the coordination and joint inspection with the manager of the Hajj Dormitory, PT Wika, and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing on Tuesday, July 6. The goal is to unite steps to accelerate the preparation of the Hajj Dormitory into a COVID-19 Emergency Hospital.

Furthermore, Doddy said PLN is ready to support if it requires consultation regarding the electricity network under the authority of the Hajj Dormitory and the new electricity network prepared by PT Wika and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing.

"We will also together with the Hajj Dormitory carry out an assessment of the electricity distribution substation belonging to the Hajj Dormitory and we will convey the results of the recommendations if needed consultation we are ready", added Doddy.

Meanwhile, the Director of Building Arrangements at the Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Boby Ali Azhari, said that in the preparation in the Hajj Dormitory Emergency Hospital, it would be equipped with a High Care Unit (HCU).

"This requires a large amount of electricity. So coordination with PLN regarding the availability of electricity is also very necessary", he said.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Jakarta Embarkation Hajj Dormitory UPT, Dasrul El Hakim, said that in the fight against this pandemic, all must collaborate and Hajj Dormitory is ready to support.

For your information, Hajj Dormitory itself is a PLN customer with a power of 1,500,000 VA. Electrical coordination has been going well so far. Before the pandemic, this location was used as a temporary residence for pilgrims who will perform the pilgrimage.
