JAKARTA - The number of COVID-19 cases in the country has continued to increase in recent times. The Special Staff of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Raden Pardede, stated that this condition was partly due to the emergence of a new variant of the COVID-19 virus, namely corona delta.

Raden said the transmission process of the delta corona virus was much faster than other corona variants, such as variants from Wuhan, China and alpha fluid. In fact, in conditions without health protocols, one case of the Wuhan variant of the corona virus could transmit the outbreak to 729 people.

Meanwhile, said Raden, the spread was more common for the alpha corona variant. One case for this variant could spread the outbreak to 15,625 people. While one case of the delta corona virus can spread transmission to 117,649 people.

"It is said that this new delta variant is now very dominant," he said.

Raden explained, the government continues to monitor the surge in COVID-19 cases. The addition of daily COVID-19 cases broke another record on July 5, reaching 29,745 people since the first case was announced on March 2, 2020.
