JAKARTA - The government continues to encourage market access for flagship products as one of the drivers of economic growth. In line with these efforts, the ID FOOD Food BUMN Holding has realized the first export of vaname shrimp to the United States to increase the added value and competitiveness of fishery commodities.

This was conveyed by the President Director of ID FOOD Ghimoyo, after reviewing the preparation of the first export of vaname shrimp on Wednesday, July 15, in Gresik. According to him, the export shows that domestic fishery products have great potential to meet the needs of foreign markets.

"This first export is a strategic step for ID FOOD in developing the vaname shrimp market. Through integrated supply chain management, we ensure that the purchase, processing, sale, and shipment processes are carried out according to the standards and needs of the destination country," he said.

At this inaugural release, ID FOOD exported six containers of vaname shrimp with a capacity of around 17 tons per container or a total of around 102 tons. The company targets regular shipments of eight containers per month. With a capacity of around 17 tons per container, the total export volume is projected to reach 136 tons of vaname shrimp each month. By the end of 2026, ID FOOD targets exports of 72 containers with a value of around IDR 218.5 billion.

According to him, the target is designed to maintain supply consistency and meet global market demand sustainably. ID FOOD also continues to strengthen coordination with suppliers, processing partners, and buyers to maintain product quality and delivery accuracy.

For the United States market, exports are carried out through cooperation with importers of RCC and Sterling Seafood Corporation. In addition, the marketing of vaname shrimp is also developed to Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, and Japan.

"Diversification of destination countries is carried out to expand market reach, reduce dependence on one region, and maintain the continuity of the export business of fishery products," he explained.

The products marketed consist of raw or raw shrimp and cook or cooked shrimp. The variations include PTO or Peeled Tail On, which is peeled shrimp with the tail intact, and PND or Peeled and Deveined, which is shrimp that has been peeled, cleaned, and the dorsal vein removed so that it is ready to be processed.

Ghimoyo added that the development of exports is not only oriented towards increasing sales volume, but also on the development of a sustainable supply chain. This step is in line with ID FOOD's focus on strengthening the food trading and logistics business lines.

"Export success requires strong collaboration from upstream to downstream. ID FOOD takes a role in connecting supply sources so that domestic food commodities are more competitive. In the future, ID FOOD will continue to strengthen supply chain management, increase capacity and supply continuity, and explore new market opportunities," he said.
