JAKARTA - The construction of the Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll Road is not only accelerated in terms of construction progress, but also relies on digital transformation.

This implementation is carried out by PT Hutama Karya Infrastruktur or HKI on 7D Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology to integrate all project stages, from planning, construction implementation, cost control to asset management.

HKI Secretary Resnu Aditya Wuladarman said that the BIM technology applied in the project is no longer limited to displaying three-dimensional (3D) visualization.

The system was developed to include BIM 2D, 3D, 4D, 5D and 7D. Thus, all project information can be managed in one digital model that is interconnected.

"BIM is not only used as a 3D visualization medium, but is applied in an integrated manner ranging from 2D, 3D, 4D, 5D to 7D," Resnu said in a written statement, Wednesday, July 8.

Through a digitally connected model, project information such as engineering drawings, construction stages, costs, and asset data can be managed more effectively.

Thus, coordination, detection of design conflicts, and decision-making become faster and more accurate.

In addition to BIM, HKI also implements a Common Data Environment (CDE) as a center for managing all project documents digitally.

Through this system, work images, revisions, designs, technical documents, and coordination results can be accessed in real time by all teams according to their authority.

According to Resnu, the use of CDE makes all parties involved in the development work using the same data, thereby minimizing the potential for errors due to the use of outdated documents.

In the field, HKI also utilizes Digital Survey technology based on drone photogrammetry to accelerate the measurement and verification of the progress of the stockpile team.

The technology produces more accurate data as well as a basis for calculating the volume of work and preparing the progress of payment.

"The synergy between BIM, CDE and Digital Survey forms a connected digital ecosystem," he continued.

Then, the data from the survey and field recording can be used to validate the actual conditions of the BIM model, while all supporting documents and information are managed through CDE, so that they can be accessed by all stakeholders quickly and under control.

"This integration creates a more efficient workflow, improves the quality of decision-making, and strengthens coordination at every stage of the project," said Resnu.

The application of digital technology also supports the acceleration of the development of the Pekanbaru Ring Road Toll Road.

As of the end of June 2026, the construction progress of the project has reached 77 percent and is targeted to be completed in February 2027.

HKI assessed that the use of digital technology is part of the company's transformation in building a more modern infrastructure.

In addition to increasing work efficiency, the system is also expected to strengthen transparency, accountability, and the quality of project governance.

In the future, the implementation of BIM, CDE and Digital Survey will continue to be part of HKI's strategy in developing the concept of smart construction, namely the construction of infrastructure that prioritizes the use of data and digital technology to produce a faster, more precise and sustainable construction process.
