JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has set the electricity tariff of PT PLN (Persero) Triwulan III or the July-September period of 2026 for 13 non-subsidized customer groups that will not increase.
Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia reasoned that this policy was carried out to maintain people's purchasing power, support industrial competitiveness, and provide certainty for business actors.
"In order to maintain people's purchasing power and support national economic stability, the Government has decided that the electricity tariff for the third quarter of 2026 will remain the same or not increase," said Bahlil, quoted Wednesday, July 1,
In accordance with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 7 of 2024 concerning Electricity Tariff Provided by PT PLN (Persero), the adjustment of electricity tariffs for non-subsidized customers is carried out every three months by referring to changes in the realization of macroeconomic economic parameters, namely exchange rates, Indonesian Crude Price (ICP), inflation, and Reference Coal Price (HBA).
For the determination of the electricity tariff for the third quarter of 2026, the macroeconomic economic parameters refer to the realization of the period from February to April 2026, namely a rate of Rp16,959.32 per USD, ICP of 96.12 US dollars per barrel, inflation of 0.21 percent, and HBA of 70 US dollars per ton according to the DMO coal policy.
Based on the tariff adjustment formula, the accumulation of these parameter changes should cause an increase in electricity tariffs.
Furthermore, Bahlil said, the electricity tariff for 24 subsidized customer groups also did not change and continued to receive electricity subsidies. This group includes social customers, poor households, small businesses, small industries, and customers whose electricity allocation is for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
"The government is committed to providing reliable, affordable, and equitable electricity. This fixed tariff policy is part of efforts to maintain economic stability while ensuring that electricity services remain sustainable," explained Bahlil.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources also appeals to the public to use electricity wisely and efficiently as part of a joint effort to support national energy resilience and independence.
"The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources asks PT PLN (Persero) to continue to maintain the reliability of electricity supply, improve the quality of service to customers, and optimize the operational efficiency of electricity supply to provide the best service to the community," said Bahlil.
