JAKARTA - Nusa Mandiri University has strengthened its position in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) based technology.
UNM Rector Dwiza Riana has successfully obtained funding for the Doctoral Dissertation Research Grant (PDD) Program for the 2026 Fiscal Year from the Ministry of Education and Technology's DPPM.
The funding was given for a research entitled "Development of High-Precision Image Interpolation Method and Adaptive Loss Function for Stabilization of Deep Learning-Based Potato Pest Detection Model".
This research is considered strategic because it leads to the development of AI technology to support the modernization of the national agricultural sector, especially in improving the accuracy of potato crop pest detection.
In this research, Dwiza Riana collaborated with Dr. Muhammad Haris, M.Eng and Sri Hadianti, M.Kom as doctoral students in Informatics. This research collaboration is expected to produce technology solutions that are applicable for farmers.
The Chairman of the LPPM of Nusa Mandiri University, Andi Saryoko, said that this innovation has the potential to support the development of an intelligent agricultural system or smart farming in Indonesia.
"This success shows the strong commitment of Nusa Mandiri University in developing research that is not only publication-oriented, but also has a real impact on society," said Andi.
According to him, the deep learning-based technology developed can help farmers detect pest attacks faster and more accurately so that they can reduce the potential for crop losses.
In addition, the results of the research also have the potential to be developed into a digital application that can be accessed by farmers in various regions of Indonesia.
This step is considered in line with the digital transformation in the agricultural sector which has been growing in recent years.
This achievement also strengthens the position of Nusa Mandiri University as a campus that actively encourages AI-based technology innovation for industrial and community needs.
