JAKARTA - The President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Prabowo Subianto inaugurated the operationalization of 1,061 Red and White Village/Subdistrict Cooperatives (KDKMP) for East Java (Jatim) and Central Java (Jateng). This inauguration was symbolically carried out at the Nglawak KDKMP, Kertosono, Nganjuk, East Java. The inauguration was called a historic milestone in the development of village-based economy.

Prabowo emphasized that this KDKMP is a milestone for Indonesian history because it is able to build a cooperative ecosystem in large numbers in a relatively short time. He is optimistic that through KDKMP, Indonesia will no longer be seen as a weak nation but a strong and great nation because of the role of the village community through the cooperative movement.

"I think that if you look for it in other countries, especially in the history of our nation, a government that (can) officially operationalize more than 1,000 cooperatives physically does not exist. (So) I think today is a very important day," said Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto, Saturday, May 16.

He explained that the physical development of the cooperative began in November 2025 and in seven months it was successfully operationalized with more than a thousand units. For this achievement, President Prabowo gave high appreciation to all the ranks of Ministers, Heads of Agencies/Institutions in the Red and White Cabinet.

According to him, Prabowo, KDKMP will be the main foundation in the government's strategy to build a village or neighborhood economy. This program will be combined with other initiatives such as Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) and Red and White Fishing Village (KNMP) so that his confidence in the effectiveness of the program in efforts to build the economy in villages/neighborhoods can be realized.

"The MBG program, if supported by KDKMP and later will be supported by the Red and White Fishermen Village (KNMP) and the end is the downstream and industrialization. Through KDKMP, we will provide cheap credit for the people," said President Prabowo.

Prabowo emphasized that the synergy between cross-ministry and agency programs needed to be strengthened, especially the KDKMP. Because the KDKMP will be a national pride program because it is an instrument in changing the direction of the Indonesian economy in accordance with the constitutional mandate.

"Let's move forward with confidence that through this cooperative, the Indonesian economy will become strong, because our fundamentals are strong," he said.

Minister of Cooperatives (Menkop), Ferry Juliantono, is grateful that the procession of the inauguration of the operationalization symbolically for 1,061 KDKMP for the regions of East Java and Central Java can run smoothly. This inauguration is an important milestone in strengthening the KDKMP ecosystem which will then be inaugurated thousands of KDKMP gradually in other regions.

"Later in August (2026), although the President said it would be inaugurated again 20,000 KDKMP, but we will try our best to exceed what the President targeted," said Ferry.

With the operation of this KDKMP, Ferry emphasized that the government's efforts to improve the welfare of the people in villages/villages will be realized. The presence of this KDKMP is a tangible proof of the government's commitment to building a people's economy based on cooperatives.

"This (the inauguration of operationalization) is the beginning of the KDKMP which is currently 100 percent complete with 9,200 units, but at the direction of the President, it was inaugurated for the first phase of 1,061 units," he said.

Ferry again emphasized that the KDKMP which has been operating is certain to become an offtaker of various products of village communities ranging from agriculture, plantations, fisheries, handicrafts, culinary and so on to be absorbed by cooperatives. In addition, KDKMP will also play a role in the distribution and provision of various basic food products or other subsidized goods for the community.

"Please pray and support, hopefully the existence of KDKMP can really feel the benefits for members and also for the community," he explained.

Meanwhile, regarding the development of KDKMP which has land areas less than the minimum provision of 1,000 square meters, Minister of Transportation Ferry stated that he was conducting a study so that the concept of building stalls, warehouses or other facilities was designed / built vertically.

"We are considering giving jobs to PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara for land locations that are less than a thousand meters. Especially for villages and rural areas that are a little bit," he said.

The President Director of PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, Joao Angelo De Sousa Mota, stated that as the executor of the task to build outlets, warehouses and other facilities, Agrinas is optimistic that the target of 30,000 KDKMP units to be inaugurated for operationalization in the next phase can be achieved.

"For the follow-up KDKMP, we are very optimistic and we believe that thanks to the support of all the Ministry and State Institutions, it will make it easier to realize what we have planned together," he said.

Deputy Commander of the TNI, General TNI Tandyo Budi Revita, added that in general, there were no significant obstacles in the development of physical assets for the KDKMP for the Java region. However, for remote villages or villages such as in Papua, it does require extra action due to limited resources and difficult locations that are difficult to penetrate with land transportation.
