JAKARTA - PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia or KAI Commuter said that the procurement process for 30 train sets or KRL trainsets is currently nearing the finalization stage.

KCI Vice President Corporate Secretary Karina Amanda said that the procurement discussion is currently ongoing and has entered the final stage.
"This is indeed a study that continues to be carried out and it is nearing the final stage. So both from the KAI, KCI, and the government are in the process of preparing to realize it in relation to the additional need for transport capacity," Karina told reporters, writing Tuesday, April 21.
Karina said, KAI Commuter is also studying cross-services that will be a priority for the operation of the new trainset. Later, the series will be operated with 12 train formations (SF12) on lines that are infrastructure ready.
"Of course, later we will see the priority of the readiness of the infrastructure. So we will operate the facilities with SF12 on the cross-service which is indeed the infrastructure of the infrastructure that can support the operation of SF12," he said.
However, Karina said that her party could not confirm the time to complete the procurement of 30 trainsets. The procurement process is still ongoing and will continue to be monitored until the realization stage.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto asked the President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI Bobby Rasyidin to procure 30 new train sets within the next one year.
