JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi has ensured that Terminal 2F at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta), Tangerang, Banten, is ready to serve the departure of the 2026 hajj pilgrims.
This was conveyed after directly reviewing the readiness of Terminal 2F at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Sunday, April 19. This review was carried out to ensure the readiness of air transportation facilities and infrastructure ahead of the 2026 Hajj Transportation.
The departure of the first group of Indonesian pilgrims is scheduled to begin on April 22, 2026. This year, the total number of Indonesian pilgrims reached 221,000 people who will be sent out gradually until May 2026.
Dudy said Terminal 2F was specially prepared to serve pilgrims for Hajj and Umrah, so that the entire process is made more integrated, effective, and provides comfort for pilgrims.
"We want to ensure that all operational aspects are ready before the departure of the first batch," Dudy said in an official statement, Monday, April 20.
Furthermore, Dudy emphasized that the implementation of the haj transportation was a large-scale national operation involving cross-sectors.
"The implementation of the haj transportation is not a normal operation. We are moving more than 221 thousand pilgrims from 14 embarkations through 525 clusters. Therefore, safety, timeliness, and comfort are the main priorities," he said.
The Ministry of Transportation has ensured the operational readiness of the Hajj flight supported by Garuda Indonesia and Saudia Airlines. Both airlines have prepared dozens of aircraft fleets to serve hundreds of flight clusters.
In addition, various mitigation measures have also been prepared, including strengthening safety supervision through aircraft ramp checks, readiness of 14 embarkation airports, and international coordination to anticipate potential flight disruptions.
"We ensure that all aspects of flight safety are met, including aircraft airworthiness and airline operational readiness. Coordination with all stakeholders is also being strengthened so that services to pilgrims run safely, smoothly, and on time," he said.
