SURABAYA - The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) has spoken out regarding the tax restitution scheme, which is currently still in the discussion stage.
Director of Extension, Service, and Public Relations of the Directorate General of Taxes, Inge Diana Rismawanti emphasized that any excess tax payment by the public will still be returned to the taxpayer.
He said that his party understood that restitution was a taxpayer's mandatory right that must be fulfilled, so that the DJP would not withhold funds that were already a right.
"Regarding the right to restitution, we understand very well that this restitution actually affects the taxpayer's rights. Of course we will not keep it for ourselves if it is indeed the taxpayer's right," he said during a media visit to PT Mitra Saruta Indonesia, Thursday, April 16.
However, Inge said that the DJP is trying to ensure that the restitution process, especially the return of the advance with a faster time, is given to taxpayers with a proven level of compliance.
"Indeed, at this time we are trying to make sure that those who receive restitution with a quick time or the return of the advance, are really taxpayers whose level of compliance is indeed correct like that," he said.
Even so, Inge has not provided further details regarding the provisions of the restitution scheme.
He also asked the public to wait for the issuance of the Minister of Finance Regulation which is scheduled to be enacted soon.
"Well, the point is, it's more accurate to target who gets it. But don't worry, he said it would come out soon, so we'd rather wait than me leak what the Minister hasn't signed," he explained.
