JAKARTA - New York-based indie rock giants Interpol have officially announced a new chapter in their musical career by signing a contract with independent record label Partisan Records.
This strategic cooperation is the main foundation for the preparation of their eighth studio album release, which has long been awaited by fans around the world.
This step was taken amid the high public enthusiasm for the continuation of their work after the success of the album "The Other Side of Make-Believe" in 2022.
Through the official Instagram account, Paul Banks (vocals, guitar) revealed the band's satisfaction with this partnership. He assessed that the vision and work ethic of Partisan Records are very much in line with Interpol's artistic principles.
"We are really excited to partner with this incredible label. Partisan's track record, their roster of artists, and overall work ethic give us total confidence. We feel like we're in the ideal company at every level," Banks said, quoting the caption of the upload, Wednesday, May 13.
Interpol is now officially joining the ranks of other high-profile musicians under the Partisan Records umbrella, such as IDLES, PJ Harvey, Laura Marling, and Geese. Their presence is seen as strengthening Partisan's position as a home for musicians who prioritize musical integrity and sound innovation.
Although the official release date of the eighth album has not been announced, Interpol has started to give clues through performances of new songs on stage, such as "See Out Loud" and "Wings Of Fire".
Interestingly, the song "Wings Of Fire" which was first performed at Coachella 2026 is said to bring a nostalgic feel from their classic albums, "Antics" (2004) and "Our Love To Admire" (2007).
Previously in an interview with NME, Banks emphasized that the creative process for the new album felt more collective and high-powered.
"To be honest, it's pretty amazing. I'm pretty excited about the material we've been working on so far. All I can say is 'yes' with enthusiasm. With this recording, we're back writing songs together in one room, and my favorite song so far has a pretty high energy," said Banks.
In addition, Daniel Kessler (guitar) added that although the upcoming album has more upbeat tracks, they still explore a different and new atmospheric spectrum for Interpol listeners.
In terms of formation, Sam Fogarino is confirmed to remain fully involved in writing and recording all drum tracks, although he still has to miss the world tour to focus on post-operative spinal recovery.
Interpol is scheduled to undergo a busy tour agenda throughout 2026, including supporting Deftones' tour in Australia as well as a series of concerts in the UK and Europe with My Chemical Romance and Bloc Party.
