JAKARTA - Stocks of cooking oil for the people with the trademark Minyakita are reported to be difficult to find or rare in the market in a number of regions, including Jakarta.

To overcome this, Perum Bulog has submitted additional quotas to the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag).

Perum Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani admitted that he had reported the scarcity of Minyakita to Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman.

Including also submitting an additional quota for the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) to the Ministry of Trade.

"Yesterday we also reported to Mr. Minister to overcome the empty Minyakita. To be honest, we have submitted a request to the Minister of Trade for an additional quota," he said at a press conference at the Perum Bulog Office, Jakarta, Monday, April 13.

For information, the government involves state-owned enterprises in the food sector to participate in distributing Minyakita. Where the government also requires manufacturers to channel a minimum of 35 percent of Minyakita to the Food SOEs.

Rizal said the 35 percent quota was divided into three state-owned food companies. The details are, Bulog gets 70 percent of the quota, while ID FOOD 20 percent and Agrinas Palma 10 percent.

"Now this from these three SOEs, they are given accountability to control the Minyakita market in the SP2KP markets and traditional markets," he said.

On the other hand, Rizal said his party also received an assignment to distribute food assistance targeting more than 33 million beneficiaries.

Therefore, according to him, Bulog must be smart in managing the rhythm of distribution.

"Well, we also regulate the rhythm. Yesterday we focused on Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, thank God it went smoothly. Then after this we focus on food assistance," he said.

After the distribution of food assistance, Rizal said Bulog would focus again on the market.

He admitted that the limitations of DMO for Minyakita occurred because it had to be shared with food assistance as well.

"So, indeed, the limitations of DMO are when faced with the needs of Minyakita for food assistance. So, we share," said Rizal.

Therefore, Rizal asked that the DMO quota for state-owned food companies be increased to 65 percent.

According to him, with the addition of quotas, it is expected to meet market needs as well as food assistance.

"According to the direction from Mr. Minister, yesterday we were ordered to add the DMO quota submission, 65 percent. Hopefully it can cover the market and include food aid," he said.
