JAKARTA - Zurich Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to be a driver of insurance industry growth through health product innovation, expansion of cross-segment protection access, and strengthening of distribution partnerships.
This step is in line with the momentum of industry growth which is projected to be more mature in 2026.
Entering 2026, the national insurance industry is in an important phase with the implementation of new regulations from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) which strengthens governance, transparency, and risk management practices.
OJK projects that insurance industry assets this year can grow by around 5-7 percent.
Country Manager of Zurich Indonesia and President Director of PT Zurich Asuransi Indonesia Tbk, Edhi Tjahja Negara, said the health insurance industry is now entering a more mature growth phase as people's financial literacy increases and regulatory support is stronger.
"The momentum from the beginning of the year to Ramadan-Idulfitri is the right time to encourage innovation and expand access to protection so that more Indonesian families are protected sustainably," he said in a statement, Monday, March 9.
In line with this, Nailul Huda, an Economic Observer from the Center of Economic and Law Studies (Celios), assessed that the prospects for the insurance industry in 2026 remain promising and this is supported by the increasing awareness of the public about the importance of protection and the growing need for protection in the midst of global health and economic risk dynamics.
He added that the fundamentals of the Indonesian insurance industry, which continue to strengthen with an increase in assets under management, as well as strengthening regulations and supervision, also encourage better industry governance so as to increase public confidence in the insurance sector.
"The dynamics of global health and economic risks also make people more aware of the importance of having comprehensive protection, which will contribute positively to the expansion opportunities of the insurance industry in 2026," he said.
In terms of performance, Zurich's health protection portfolio showed significant growth in January 2026, namely the Medicillin group health insurance product recorded a growth in gross written premium (GWP) of up to 40 percent year-on-year (yoy).
Meanwhile, Zurich Optimal Health Assurance (ZOHA) individual health insurance products also experienced an increase in GWP of more than 20 percent (yoy).
In addition, the Zurich Critical Care (ZCC) critical illness protection innovation has also attracted public interest since its launch earlier this year.
Director of PT Zurich Topas Life (Zurich Life), Fred Chan, said the positive trend reflects the increasing need of the community for comprehensive but flexible health protection.
"We are strengthening ZOHA for comprehensive and flexible health protection, and presenting Zurich Critical Care (ZCC) as a complement to a concise but comprehensive critical illness solution," he said.
In the sharia segment, Zurich also expanded insurance inclusion through micro products with affordable premiums, such as Micro Dengue Fever, Micro Typhoid, and Micro Hospital Cash Plan, which recorded growth of more than 40 percent.
To further encourage inclusion to the family and education ecosystem, Zurich Syariah also introduces a protected scholarship (Student Protection), which serves as a door-opener to introduce the concept of sharia protection from an early age, and to build trust in insurance products that are simple but relevant to daily needs.
President Director of PT Zurich General Takaful Indonesia, Hilman Simanjuntak, stated that the micro-sharia product is an inclusive solution because it provides protection with affordable contributions and a simple process.
"We see this growth momentum as a reflection of the growing awareness of the community towards protection in accordance with Sharia principles, for financial tranquility for families. Micro-Sharia products are an inclusive solution because they provide protection with affordable contributions and simple processes," he said.
To expand insurance inclusion, Zurich also took advantage of the Idulfitri momentum by providing free personal accident insurance for 1,500 travelers throughout Indonesia and this program provides protection during the homecoming period of 17-26 March 2026 and can be obtained through the website https://bit.ly/FreePA2026 until 13 March 2026.
In the future, Edhi said Zurich will continue to strengthen customer-based innovation, maintain a solid governance, and expand collaboration so that more Indonesian people can obtain targeted protection.
"Zurich is committed to continuing to be a trusted protection partner for the Indonesian people, with sustainable and relevant solutions, for the resilience of today's society to the future," concluded Edhi.
