JAKARTA - A survey conducted by Bank Indonesia (BI) shows that consumer confidence in economic conditions in February 2026 decreased compared to the previous month.
The decline is reflected in the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) which is at 125.2, down from January 2026 which reached 127.0.
Despite the decline, BI Communication Department Executive Director Ramdan Denny Prakoso stated that the public's confidence in the national economic condition is still considered strong.
"Consumer confidence that remains optimistic in February 2026 is sourced from an increase in consumer confidence in the current economic conditions and the continued strength of consumer confidence in the future economic conditions," he said in a statement, Monday, March 9.
The indicator of the Economic Conditions Index (IKE) in February was recorded at 115.9, an increase compared to the previous month which was at the level of 115.1.
Meanwhile, the Consumer Expectations Index (IEK) is still in the optimistic zone at 134.4, although lower than January which reached 138.8.
Based on spending groups, consumer optimism in February 2026 is still visible across all groups where the highest IKK value was recorded in respondents with spending above IDR 5 million per month at 129.2.
However, some spending groups experienced a slight decrease in optimism compared to the previous month, except for the spending group of Rp3.1 million to Rp5 million which actually increased.
In terms of age, IKK also remained at an optimistic level in all age groups where the highest level of optimism was recorded in respondents aged 20-30 years with a value of 133.7.
The increase in optimism occurred in the 51-60 year age group, while other age groups experienced a slight decrease compared to the previous period.
In terms of territory, the increase in IKK was recorded in several cities surveyed, especially in Surabaya, Banjarmasin, and Padang.
