JAKARTA - Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli appealed to application-based transportation service companies to prioritize transparency in the mechanism for granting the 2026 Religious Holiday Bonus (BHR) to online drivers and couriers.

Transparency is considered important so that they understand the basis for calculating the BHR received, as well as preventing potential differences and disputes from the start.

The appeal was contained in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia Number M/4/HK.04.00/III/2026 concerning the Provision of Religious Holiday Bonus for 2026 for Drivers and Couriers in Application-Based Transportation Services, which was set on March 2, 2026. The circular letter is addressed to the governors and heads of companies that organize application-based transportation services throughout Indonesia.

"This BHR policy is a manifestation of the government's concern for online drivers and couriers in welcoming religious holidays so that they can get fair appreciation, while encouraging productivity improvement," said Yassierli, quoted Wednesday, March 4.

Regarding the recipient, Yassierli emphasized that the Religious BHR was given by the application company to drivers and online couriers who were officially registered with the application company within the last 12 months. Thus, the status of registration and partnership history becomes the main reference in the implementation of the 2026 Religious BHR.

In terms of magnitude, the circular stipulates that the Religious BHR is given in the form of cash with a minimum value of 25 percent of the average net income for the past 12 months. This provision is the minimum limit that can be used as a guideline for application companies in calculating the BHR for online driver and courier partners.

In addition to the amount, the Minister of Home Affairs emphasized the openness of calculations as the key to fair implementation.

"With transparency, online motorcycle taxi and courier drivers are expected to understand the basis of the BHR calculation they receive and potential differences can be prevented from the start," said Yassierli.

In the circular, the deadline for the provision of Religious BHR was also emphasized, namely no later than 7 (seven) days before Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. Yassierli appealed to the application company to be able to distribute BHR faster than the deadline.

"Religious BHR is given no later than 7 days before Eid, but we urge it to be given sooner than that," he said.

On the same occasion, the Minister of Home Affairs emphasized that the provision of Religious BHR does not eliminate welfare support for online drivers and couriers that have been provided by application companies in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations.

"In other words, BHR is placed as an additional support, not a replacement for the welfare program that is already running," said Yassierli.

To ensure implementation in the regions, the governors are asked to take strengthening steps, ranging from appealing to application companies to provide Religious BHR to all online drivers and couriers in accordance with the circular, to instructing heads of departments dealing with employment to strive for and monitor implementation.

"The governors are also asked to forward the circular to the regent/mayor and related stakeholders in their respective regions," said Yassierli.
