JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has spoken out regarding the lack of fuel at a number of Shell-owned SPBU.
Director General of Oil and Gas Laode Sulaeman said that until now his party was still evaluating the permit for the import of Shell Indonesia's fuel oil (BBM) this year.
Lde said that because the evaluation process was still ongoing, the import of Shell fuel could not be processed.
"Shell is being evaluated," said Director General of Oil and Gas Laode Sulaeman to the media crew when he met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jakarta, Friday, February 6.
He added that one of the considerations for the import permit for Shell fuel is still being evaluated is the slowness of the oil and gas company in agreeing to purchase pure fuel or base fuel through PT Pertamina, when there was a shortage of fuel at private gas stations at the end of last year.
"We also evaluate when they order (base fuel from Pertamina)," he said.
Quoted from the Shell website, as of today, Shell Super stock is only available in East Java.
President Director & Managing Director of Shell Indonesia's Mobility, Ingrid Siburian said that until now his party is still continuing to coordinate with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) regarding the import quota for fuel.
"Shell Indonesia would like to inform that we continue to coordinate with the government regarding the request for a recommendation for the import of fuel oil (BBM) in 2026 in accordance with the applicable procedures," Ingrid told the media, Friday, January 30.
Ingrid said, Shell Indonesia appreciates the government's support in carrying out the business activities of providing fuel so that it can distribute various types of quality fuel products through partners.
"We believe that the availability of fuel products in the Shell gas station network can meet the needs of customers and contribute to the country's economy," explained Ingrid.
