JAKARTA - The Muamalat Institute provides guidance on sharia business development and human resources (HR) to the Jabung Syariah Agro-Commerce Cooperative (KAN), East Java, in order to improve business competitiveness.

Muamalat Institute Executive Director Anton Hendrianto said the synergy built by the two institutions aims to provide optimal service to the community.

"In addition, it is also hoped that it will further expand the sharia ecosystem in Indonesia in accordance with President Joko Widodo's directives to intensify economic activities with Islamic principles," he said in an official statement, Monday, May 31.

Anton added, Muamalat Institute as a sharia education and training institution is committed to continuing to support the development of business, technology, and human resources, especially for financial institutions with a small-medium market segmentation such as cooperatives.

"As one of the largest cooperatives in East Java and Indonesia, it is very feasible if KAN Jabung Syariah continues to increase its self-actualization in order to provide a variety of financial products that have the potential to increase its business market share," he said.

On the same occasion, the Chairperson of I KAN Jabung Syariah Herman Soepardjono said the collaboration that was built with the Muamalat Institute was proof that his party was quite concerned about paying attention to the quality of human resources.

"We are quite happy to be able to work directly with the most senior sharia institutions in Indonesia. This step is also our concrete manifestation to develop the cooperative business to a wider level,” he said.

Herman believes, through increasing HR competencies, new business ideas will emerge that are useful in facing business challenges. Moreover, he continued, the COVID-19 pandemic made the overall economic performance tend to sag.

"This is where the importance of collaborating with strategic partners so that the business activities we run can get out of challenges or even take advantage of opportunities in difficult situations we face," he said.

"Cooperatives as one of Indonesia's economic heritages must be able to survive and present new innovations to remain relevant to the increasing needs of society in today's modern era," concluded Herman.
