JAKARTA - The State Electricity Company (PLN) manages 150 Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in Bali with a transaction growth of 751 percent during 2025.
General Manager of PLN Distribution Parent Unit (UID) Bali, Eric Rosi Priyo Nugroho said that year-on-year, the sales transaction of PLN UID Bali SPKLU throughout 2025 grew by 751 percent.
"This transaction data is the basis for PLN to ensure that the development of SPKLU is targeted, follows the pattern of community needs, and continues to maintain the overall reliability of the electricity system," he said, quoted by Antara.
Until the end of 2025, the total SPKLU operating in Bali reached 230 units of EV chargers spread across 164 locations. Of these, 150 SPKLU units are managed by PLN, while the other 80 units are managed by private SPKLU business entities.
The collaboration, said Eric, was carried out to expand access to electric vehicle charging services for the public while encouraging business involvement in the development of supporting infrastructure.
The growth of infrastructure was followed by an increase in the utilization of services to grow by 751 percent.
The increase reflects the increasing public confidence in electric vehicles and the importance of having adequate charging infrastructure to support changes in transportation patterns.
The SPKLU in Bali is spread across various strategic points that support daily mobility and inter-regional travel.
For four-wheeled vehicles (R4), PLN manages 150 SPKLU units spread across 93 locations, while for two-wheeled vehicles (R2) there are 44 active SPKLU units until December 2025.
The placement is designed so that the public can charge more comfortably and planned.
Eric explained that the strengthening of SPKLU was carried out not only through the addition of unit numbers, but also the improvement of service quality and system reliability.
"PLN ensures that each SPKLU operates in accordance with technical and safety standards, has a certificate of operational suitability, and is integrated with the PLN Charging Station Management System (CSMS) so that charging services can be monitored and accessed in real time," he said.
He added that the increase in SPKLU transactions throughout 2025 is an important indicator in planning future development.
In addition, all SPKLU developed have met the applicable regulatory provisions, including the use of national standard (SNI) equipment, ownership of SPKLU identification numbers from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and support for electricity installations in accordance with special service tariff provisions. This step is taken to provide certainty, security, and transparency for electric vehicle users.
PLN also opens the opportunity for SPKLU partnerships with various parties through a transparent and equitable scheme. Through the revenue sharing mechanism based on investment composition, land owners and charger partners can obtain a proportional revenue share.
All transactions and revenue of SPKLU can be monitored through an integrated partnership dashboard.
"For us, the most important thing is that the public gets access to easy-to-access, safe, and reliable electric vehicle charging services, so that the use of electric vehicles can grow sustainably," he said.
