Good News For Indonesian Migrant Workers In Malaysia, Bank Mandiri Accommodates BPJS Employment Payments There

JAKARTA - PT Bank Mandiri Tbk. through Mandiri International Remittance (MIR) prepares a payment channel for the BPJS Employment (BP Jamsostek) for Indonesian Workers (TKI) residing in Malaysia.

President Director of Bank Mandiri Darmawan Junaidi said that the cooperation with BP Jamsostek is the government's effort to protect Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI).

"On the other hand, this can accelerate the expansion of the Bank's business, especially in handling the payment of the Work Accident Security (JKK), Death Security (JKM) and Old Age Security (JHT) BP Jamsostek overseas payments," he said in a press statement as quoted. from the official website, Friday, May 28.

Darmawan added that this payment channel expansion initiative is very appropriate to be implemented in Malaysia. This is because this neighboring country in Southeast Asia is one of the regions with the highest number of TKI.

Moreover, Bank Mandiri is the only national bank that opens access to BP Jamsostek payments in Malaysia through 14 branches owned by MIR.

"The synergy that is built is to continue the company's collaboration with BP Jamsostek which has been established so far. It should also be noted that Bank Mandiri has served around 9 million BP Jamsostek transactions with an estimated value of Rp 56 trillion, "he said.

On the same occasion, the President Director of BP Jamsostek Anggoro Eko Cahyo said that through paying dues compliance, TKI will get full protection from the aspect of social protection while working abroad.

"The fees paid are quite affordable, but the benefits are enormous. For that, workers no longer need to worry because the state is here to provide social protection for workers who are abroad, "he said.

Furthermore, Anggoro explained that the payment of dues for TKI in Malaysia applies to workers who register as new participants or an extension of the protection period for existing participants whose work contracts are extended.

Meanwhile, the amount of contributions that must be paid for the extension of the protection period is IDR 13,500 per month which is paid at once until the extension of the work contract period ends.

"Based on the data we have collected, of the approximately 800,000 TKI who are registered as working in Malaysia, only 10 percent are still active participants. The assumption is that many participants whose protection has expired find it difficult to extend it because there is no payment channel for dues, "said Anggoro.
