JAKARTA - Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid said that until now his party had not signed land Use Rights (HGU) for oil palm plantations and mining.
He said, at least there was a demand for 1.67 million hectares of HGU land that wanted to get approval from the central government.
Nusron said there were piles of applications for HGU, HGU extensions and HGU updates that he had not signed during his tenure as Minister of ATR/Head of BPN.
"This year we do not want to sign and what is on my desk is a total of new applications, extensions and updates of 1,673,000 hectares, we have not signed any of them," said Nusron when giving a speech at the National Workshop & Consolidation of Agrarian Reform Forestry in Jakarta, Friday, December 19.
According to him, his party wants the arrangement of the space to be completed on the basis of justice.
"The purpose of agrarian reform is not just to distribute land. But how to ensure that every individual, Indonesian citizen (WNI) has the right to have a decent life on the earth in Indonesia," he said.
Therefore, responding to the many demands to brush up on illegal palm oil and mining practices in Sumatra that cause deforestation and result in floods in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra, Nusron also supports this step.
"If it's a brush, yes, just brush it, it's none of our business," he said.
Previously, Nusron confirmed that he was ready to revoke the company's HGU in the areas affected by flooding and landslides in Sumatra.
This was in response to President Prabowo Subianto's directive to provide land to build housing for victims.
"Yes, ready (to withdraw HGU), it's no problem. It means that if the community needs permanent housing and there is no available land, then we will ask the land of the operators, the state land that is today's HGU-HGU in the city," said Nusron to reporters after the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Ministry of ATR/BPN 2025 in Jakarta, Monday, December 8.
His party also plans to provide land for housing development for flood victims.
Although no location survey has been conducted, the report states that 52 regencies have been affected by the disaster.
