Minister Of PKP Reveals Conglomerate Sugianto 'Aguan' Kusuma Will Help Build Houses For Residents Affected By The Sumatra Flash Flood

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait (Ara) revealed that the Buddhist Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation owned by Sugianto Kusuma alias Aguan will build 2,000 houses for victims affected by floods and landslides in Sumatra.

This was conveyed by Ara when met by reporters after holding a meeting with the Minister of Law (Menkum) Supratman Andi Agtas regarding the Draft Ministerial Decree on Limitations & Criteria for Subsidized Houses and Flats at the Ministry of Law, Jakarta, Wednesday, December 10.

"We are happy, yes, there has been a commitment from the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation (building) 2,000 (houses) to help our brothers and sisters in Sumatra," said Ara.

Ara said that later this would be reported to President Prabowo Subianto. "Later on, I will report it to the President (Prabowo). (The point is) we have started this mutual cooperation," he added.

However, Ara did not reveal when the plan to build the house began and how much the budget was.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has released the latest data on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, regarding flash floods and landslides that hit three provinces on the island of Sumatra.

As of Wednesday, December 10, at 13.26 WIB, the number of victims who died was recorded at 969 people. In addition, 262 people are still missing and around 5,000 residents are injured.

BNPB reported that at least 52 districts and cities with a total of around 157,900 houses were damaged by the disaster. Public facilities, health, houses of worship, office buildings, bridges and educational facilities were also severely affected.

Through its official website, BNPB detailed that the damage included 1,200 public facilities, 215 health facilities, 584 educational facilities, 423 houses of worship, 287 buildings or offices and 498 bridges.
