Ahead Of The Nataru Long Holiday, Traffic Engineering Is Implemented Gradually Starting December 19

JAKARTA - The government has set traffic engineering to anticipate a surge in vehicles ahead of the long Christmas and New Year 2026 (Nataru) holidays.

In addition, contra flow and one-way system will also be applied.

The Ministry of Transportation together with Korlantas Polri and the Ministry of Public Works set this arrangement in the Joint Decree (SKB) for Traffic Regulation and Crossing of Nataru 2025/2026.

The Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, said that this engineering is a routine step that is always applied during the long holiday period. The goal is to ensure that people's movements remain safe and smooth.

During the Nataru holiday, there will be traffic arrangements that include a contra flow system and one-way (one way). This is nothing new in traffic engineering management during the long holiday. Hopefully, people's journey can be safer and smoother," he said in an official statement, Thursday, December 4.

Aan said the tidal lane (contra flow) scheme from Cikampek to Jakarta will be implemented at kilometer (KM) 47 to 70 on December 19, 23, 24, 2025 from 06.00 to 14.00 local time.

"And on 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, and 28 December 2025, each from 06.00 to 14.00 local time," said Aan.

Meanwhile, from the direction of Jakarta to Cikampek, contra flow will be applied at KM 70 to KM 47 on 21, 26, 27, 28 December 2025 from 18.00 to 24.00 local time and will continue on December 29, 2025 at 00.00 to 08.00 local time.

"Then it will be re-imposed on January 1 to 4, 2026, starting at 18.00 to 24.00 local time," he said.

Then, continued Aan, drivers from Bogor-Ciawi to Jakarta contra flow will be enforced at KM 21 to KM 8 on 21, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 and 28 December 2025 from 14.00 to 19.00 local time and will continue on January 2 to 4, 2026 from 14.00 to 19.00 WIB.

"Meanwhile, the one-way system or carried out is based on the need for traffic conditions per hour, traffic engineering indicators, evaluations and other considerations made based on police discretion," he said.

Aan said the SKB also regulates construction project work around the road benefit room to be temporarily suspended during the Christmas 2025 transportation period and the new year 2026, starting on December 16, 2025 at 00.00 local time until January 4, 2025 at 24.00 local time.

Aan emphasized that this traffic regulation can be evaluated based on the consideration of the police and if there is a change in the flow of traffic situationally, operational management can be carried out in the form of discretion of police officers.

"We urge people who will go on vacation or return to their hometowns to prepare for the trip as best they can and do not force driving to be tired or sleepy," he said.
