The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) is ready to optimize active cooperatives in the context of providing raw materials for the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG).
Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono said this was to ensure the success of the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG).
In fact, he continued, there have been several cooperatives that carry out their roles as SPPG.
"Because there is an increase in the number of SPPGs, we will accelerate the supply of materials or goods (raw materials) for SPPGs or kitchens that are being built and will be built," said Ferry Juliantono, Wednesday, December 3.
Ferry gave an example that the milk producer cooperative now has the potential to enter the new MBG market.
The reason is, the need for pasteurization milk for this program reaches 82.9 million people or 4.1 million tons per year.
Then there are cooperatives such as the Ittikaq Islamic Boarding School Cooperative in Ciwidey Bandung that have supplied superior agricultural products to a number of modern retailers.
This, said Ferry, is proof that the cooperative ecosystem is ready to provide full support to SPPG in various regions in Indonesia.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Cooperatives will consolidate these cooperatives with the SPPG so that the supply of raw materials runs without obstacles.
As an effort to optimize the role of cooperatives in the MBG program, the Ministry of Cooperatives will encourage the Revolving Fund Management Institution (LPDB) which is a Public Service Agency (BLU) under the coordination of the Ministry of Cooperatives to ensure the needs of cooperatives in meeting the needs of raw materials for each SPPG.
"There is an LPDB that is ready to help the needs of each cooperative. So we need to convey the points (SPPG) anywhere to be synchronized with cooperatives to be able to supply (medical materials)," said Ferry.
Ferry continued, the Ministry of Cooperatives has mapped the potential for productive cooperatives through the Red and White Village Cooperative (Kopdes/Kel) program which plays a role in the supply chain of raw materials, from farmers, breeders, fishermen, to local products.
Therefore, Kemenkop will explore the partnership plan between the Kopdes/Kel Merah Putih and the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) in the near future.
In addition, Ferry responded to one of the problems faced by SPPG, namely the limited supply of meat / broiler eggs, which triggered an increase in prices.
He emphasized that there are a number of active cooperatives that are developing the laying hen farm sector.
This is an opportunity for the SPPG to cooperate with the cooperative rather than having to build a chicken farm independently.
"We are preparing farmer cooperatives as producers. With the right financing, cooperatives can increase the population of chickens and ensure stable supply for SPPG," he explained.

Ferry emphasized that the role of cooperatives is not only as suppliers of raw materials, but as managers of kitchens, processing of finished materials, food waste managers, and plastic packaging.
"We are ready to strengthen the supply chain. MBG is a big program and must be successful," he said.
