Government Gives Massive Discounts For Transportation Tickets During Nataru Holidays

JAKARTA - The government provides various discounts on transportation tickets to support people who will take a vacation during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) period.

This policy is part of efforts to strengthen the national economy through increasing people's purchasing power.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto explained that discounts include train tickets, sea transportation, crossings, flights, and toll rates.

"Regarding the tariff discount, it includes train tickets, sea transportation, ferry transportation, air transportation, and the Ministry of Public Housing has prepared a toll tariff discount rate," said Airlangga at a press conference, Wednesday, November 26.

The Nataru transportation discount applies to travel from 22 December 2025 to 10 January 2026.

Especially for sea transportation, the discount will take effect earlier, namely December 17, 2025 to January 10, 2026.

For toll rates, discounts are given on 22, 23, and 31 December 2025 with a discount range of 10 percent 20 percent, covering 26 toll roads: 2 sections in Jabodetabek, 9 Trans-Java sections, 3 Non-Java sections, and 12 Trans-Sumatra sections.

As the legal basis for organizing the Nataru Transportation Ticket Discount program, the government has issued a Joint Decree (SKB) between the Minister of Transportation, Minister of Finance, BP BUMN, and BPI Danantara.

The decree consists of SKB Number PJ-MHB 9 of 2025, Number 303.2 of 2025, Number 20 of 2025, and Number SKB.10/DI-BP/X/2025 which is set on October 28, 2025.

The decree provides an assignment to the state-owned transportation sector to apply tariff discounts as an economic stimulus during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays.

Meanwhile, air transportation discounts have actually started since the end of October 2025, along with the issuance of Minister of Finance Regulation Number 71 of 2025 concerning Government Borne VAT incentives (DTP) for air transportation services.

The discounts for train tickets (PT KAI), sea transportation (PT PELNI), and crossings (PT ASDP) will take effect simultaneously on November 21, 2025 at 00.01 WIB.

Thus, the public can order train tickets, ships, and crossing services according to their respective vacation plans.
