JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) revealed a series of processes and conditions so that new fuel can be marketed to the public.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dwi Anggia, explained that this series of driving processes is needed because it aims to protect consumers.

Through his Instagram account @dwi_anggia, he explained, the first stage that new fuel must go through is the physics test phase.

"This is to determine which type of fuel the specifications enter. There is a compatibility test. There is also a storage test, homogeneity. And also stability in fuel is usually three months in the characteristic test," said Anggia, quoted on Saturday, November 22.

Anggia added, the next stage is the fuel performance test. Later new fuel will be tested and compared to existing and widely marketed fuel products. At this stage, fuel will be tested on two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles to find out their reliability when used in the field.

"And it's usually done in areas where the population is a bit high," explained Anggia.

On the other hand, resilience tests also need to be carried out for 1,000 hours in the laboratory to find out if there are changes in fuel characteristics. After completing laboratory tests, then the new fuel will go through a road test process.

"Trial for 50,000 km. At least that's half of the warranty, which is 100,000 kilometers. So it's long. The process takes approximately 8 months," he said.

After successfully conducting road tests, the results of this test must be presented to the Directorate General of Oil and Gas in order to obtain certification.

"Well, after being certified by the Director General of Oil and Gas, you can take care of your commercial license," said Anggia.
