Director General Of ILMATE: GIIAS Is An Environmentally Friendly Vehicle Literacy Event

JAKARTA - Director General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics (ILMATE) Ministry of Industry Setia Diarta said the automotive exhibition initiated by Gaikindo was a means of literacy for environmentally friendly vehicles to support government programs to reduce carbon gas emissions.

"The 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) automotive exhibition in Makassar is an important event for the national automotive industry to provide literacy to consumers," Setia said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 5.

He said the national and international production automotive exhibition had a significant contribution to efforts to strengthen the energy transition ecosystem to environmentally friendly vehicles in Eastern Indonesia (KTI).

This is in line with Makassar's significant contribution to national vehicle sales which reached 4.1 percent.

In addition to this exhibition, it can educate the public to choose low-emission automotive products, he continued, as well as become a forum that bridges the automotive industry and innovators in the field.

Meanwhile, Makassar Mayor Munafri Arifuddin said the GIIAS 2025 automotive exhibition in Makassar had not only an impact on the trade sector, but also on the hotel sector, transportation to the creative economy in Makassar from GIIAS visitors from various provinces.

He said the implementation of GIIAS in Makassar was proof of the strategic role of Makassar City as the gateway for the economy at KTI, so that it was able to become a magnet for national and international activities.

Ketua Harian sekaligus Ketua Panitia Pameran dan Konfrensi Gaikindo, Anton Kumonty mengimbuhkan kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 25 merek produk otomotif, 10 merek di antaranya adalah mobil, selebihnya sepeda motor serta berbagai industri pendukung.

Menurut dia, GIIAS mendukung industri otomotif nasional dalam beradaptasi dengan perkembangan teknologi dan tuntutan global terhadap lingkungan.

Hal itu terbukti pada pelaksanaan pameran kali ini sejumlah peserta menampilkan kendaraan listrik roda empat yang berbasis baterai dan produknya beremisi rendah.

The Daily Chairperson and Chair of the Gaikindo Exhibition and Confrence Committee, Anton Kumonty, added that this activity was attended by 25 automotive product brands, 10 of which were cars, the rest were motorcycles and various supporting industries.

According to him, GIIAS supports the national automotive industry in adapting to technological developments and global demands for the environment.

This was proven at the exhibition this time that a number of participants displayed four-wheeled electric vehicles based on batteries and low-emissioned products.
