TOMOHON - It never crossed James Mogi's mind, a crisis flower farmer from Tomohon Regency, will reap tens of millions from his harvest. The success of this horticultural agriculture cannot be separated from the role of PT PLN (Persero) which provides assistance through the PLN Care Program.

While lighting up his lighting at his screenhouse, James said that he managed to reap success after receiving assistance in 2021.

Standing on an area of half a hectare, this middle-aged man's crisis garden requires maximum lighting for 16 hours a day. To illuminate a large area of land, of course, this flower garden must be electrified with a lot of power.

"Thanks to the development of PLN, we can produce better because of electricity from PLN. Because the influence of lights on this flower is very decisive for products," said James when VOI visited his Christian flower garden in Kakaskasen Village, North Tomohon District.

James said, before receiving assistance from PLN, of the 10,000 seeds planted, he could only harvest 6,000 stalks because of inadequate lighting. Not without reason, my installed electricity is only 900 VA which is used for household lighting and for lighting in his crisis flower screen house.

Not only lighting, but he must also use the smallest electrical power to revive water pumps that will flow into crisis flower gardens.

"Apart from lighting, there is a household. In the past, it used to be a bit difficult to use at home and use it in the screenhouse. Then for watering we need very good electricity because we use a very large water pump," explained James.

The James harvest then increased significantly since PLN began distributing PLN Peduli assistance in 2021. Of the 10,000 seeds planted, james can now harvest almost 100 percent.

Unmitigated, James even exported flowers to Singapore in 2022. However, this social interest export activity had to be stopped due to the problem of cubication when sending flowers abroad. However, James said he was happy because the flowers from his garden in this flower city managed to meet the quality and standards abroad.

"2021 received PLN Peduli assistance, in 2022 we had a little export to Singapore. But there are problems with packaging being calculated as cubic. However, our interest can be accepted in Singapore with the best quality," said James.

Now, the garden harvest flowers are only marketed domestically. Customers can now come directly to the garden and choose the desired flowers themselves.

From this business, James admitted that he could earn Rp. 15 million in one harvest with a calculation of Rp. 3,750.00 per crisis stick.

"The stem is Rp3,750.00 in quality A. If I plant a crisis in one greenhouse, it means Rp3,750 x 9000 in the stick," he explained.

With better electrical power, now James is no longer worried about the need for electricity in his home and the crisis garden. Now his children can still study at night without having to worry about the blackout due to a lack of power when they have to light up the crisis garden.

"I am very grateful to PLN for paying attention. Children can learn without turning off the lights," continued James.

Sourced From PLN's 'Greet' Plant

Communication Manager & TJSL PLN North, Central Sulawesi and Gorontalo Distribution Main Unit, Noven Koropit ensured that the electricity supplying James' crisis flower gardens was sourced from new renewable energy plants (EBT) such as the Tonnalam Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA), the Lahendong Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) and solar-powered plants in North Sulawesi. The electricity connected in this system can then be channeled to the community, including flower gardens in Tomohon.

"Most of us are EBT generators, yes, because we have PLTP Lahendong here, have hydropower, and also have Solar power or PLTS. Now this is very helpful related to the Anglego system and includes the city of Tomohon which eventually helps farmers as well in terms of their agricultural production," explained Noven.

Noven added that the assistance distributed by PLN through PLN Peduli included increasing electricity for free, along with supporting equipment such as fiber tanks and so on.

Noven said this assistance was important considering that crisis flowers needed more light and it was not enough if it only depended on sunlight.

"So at night with this lighting supplied by electricity from the city of Tomohon, it is reliable, continuous, so that this lighting can help the growth process and crisis interest, so that it can be faster," he explained.

In addition to flower gardens, Noven admitted that PLN Sulutenggo is also active in providing assistance to vegetable plantation and community livestock entrepreneurs. Not long ago, he said that his party provided assistance to broiler nesting in the form of electrical equipment so that it could increase people's production and income.

"We are also targeting groups that are agricultural, for example, chicken farms, which do require electricity to increase production," said Noven.
