Airlangga Says Indonesia's Digital Economy Is The Fastest Growth Motorbike In ASEAN

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto stated that Indonesia's digital economy is one of the largest in ASEAN, as well as the fastest driving force for economic growth in the country.

Airlangga noted that in 2024 the value of Indonesia's digital economy reached 90 billion US dollars, and is projected to increase to 400 billion US dollars by 2030.

One thing that will be supported is in the digital financial sector, in line with the President's message, it is necessary to electronicize government programs, in which every Indonesian family needs to have financial inclusion so that the distribution of government programs such as social assistance is more targeted," he said at the Indonesian Digital Economy Festival (FEKDI) and Indonesia Fintech Summit & Expo (IFSE) 2025 on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

He added that the use of the digital economy through the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) by business actors, including MSMEs, has reached 56 million users, with 93 percent of QRIS transactions carried out by MSMEs.

According to Airlangga, this shows that digitalization in Indonesia grows organically from the community.

Although the opportunity is great, Airlangga emphasized that challenges also arise, such as ensuring the security of payment systems, increasing digital literacy, and building public trust so that digital financial innovation can develop sustainably.

Furthermore, he added that the government targets the contribution of the digital economy to increase ninefold, with contributions to GDP reaching 15.5'19.6 percent by 2045.

Airlangga conveyed that to achieve this target, the government has taken various strategic steps, including; Issuance of the White Book of the National Digital Economy Strategy as a guideline for digital development to be directed and sustainable with 6 main pillars.

Next, the Inclusive Financial National Council Program to expand access to formal financial services to remote areas, ensures that small communities and MSMEs get financial facilities.
