JAKARTA - The Board of Directors of PTPN IV PalmCo received a visit from the East Luwu Regent at the Head Office of PTPN IV PalmCo. The two parties discussed joint steps to resolve the land issue which is currently underway in the Luwu II Gardens area, South Sulawesi, which is part of the Operational Cooperation (KSO) between PTPN IV and PTPN I as the land owner.
In a conducive meeting at Agro Plaza Jakarta, on Friday, October 17, both parties conveyed their respective views and arguments regarding land status in the East Luwu region.
Both the East Luwu Regency Government and PTPN IV PalmCo are both committed to finding the best solution in a peaceful, fair and legal manner based on the applicable legal mechanism through deliberation channels.
Director of Institutional Relations of PTPN IV PalmCo, Irwan Warin Angin explained that his party respects every aspiration of the community and local government, and encourages the entire settlement process to be pursued by prioritizing the principles of deliberation and legal certainty.
PTPN IV PalmCo really wants to continue to maintain good relations with all levels of society and local governments. Our principle is clear, settlement must go through a legal and just mechanism, while still prioritizing dialogue and avoiding potential friction in the field, especially since most of our employees are also part of the local community," said Irwan in his statement Saturday, October 18.
Irwan reiterated that PTPN IV PalmCo always opens communication space and is ready to work together in forming a team together to resolve land problems, as agreed in this afternoon's meeting.
Later, this team will involve various elements, including the East Luwu Regency Government, PTPN I SupportingCo as the owner of assets, PTPN IV PalmCo, PTPN III Plantation Holding (Persero), and Law Enforcement Officials (APH) such as the Ministry of ATR/BPN and the Prosecutor's Office.
"We believe the best solution can be achieved through cross-institutional collaboration. Once the team is formed, a timeline will be drawn up and concrete steps that can be accounted for transparently," continued Irwan.
On the same occasion, representatives of the East Luwu Regency Government expressed their appreciation for the open and cooperative attitude of the management of PTPN IV PalmCo. The local government hopes that the coordination process can run well so that land conflicts involving communities in three villages, Mantadulu, Tappa, and Tawakua can find a bright spot fairly without causing social unrest.
Until now, PTPN IV PalmCo still confirms that the land managed is a state-owned asset.
Irwan also emphasized that the main focus of the company today is to maintain the economic sustainability of the people around the garden.
"We want to ensure that employees, most of whom are local communities, can return to their normal activities. Plant operations are not only in the interests of the company, but also the economic support of many families," he concluded.
