Entering The PSN List, The MLFF System Will Be Tested Again This Year

JAKARTA - The application of Multi Lane Free Flow (MLFF) technology without stopping to enter the list of National Strategic Programs (PSN) in the era of President Prabowo Subianto's leadership.

For this reason, the government will immediately retest the system.

Referring to the Regulation of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 16 of 2025 concerning the Eighth Amendment to the Regulation of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Number 7 of 2021 concerning Amendments to the National Strategic Project List, MLFF is one of the 15th-order National Strategic Programs of the 25 existing programs.

When confirmed when the retesting of the system will be carried out, PU Minister Dody Hanggodo said it would be carried out as soon as this year.

"As soon as possible. Later, we will retest it, yes. This year (MLFF trial), as soon as possible," said Dody when met at the Coordinating Ministry for Community Empowerment (PM) office, Jakarta, Tuesday, October 14.

Hungary is an investor in the MLFF project. They have disbursed funds worth around IDR 4.5 trillion funded by Hungarian public funds for the MLFF project in Indonesia.

Although the MLFF operation has been delayed since 2021, in November 2024, the Hungarian Government through the Hungarian Ambassador to Indonesia, Lilla Karsay, said that her government remains committed and does not withdraw the funds that have been disbursed.

According to Dody, the implementation of MLFF experienced many challenges, one of which was a messy tender.

Even so, the continuation of the project will still be carried out and will continue to consider the relationship between Indonesia and Hungary as investors.

"Many, from the start the tender was a mess. But, I think we just started, because we paid attention to good relations between countries. Kamo wanted to ask for a retest, but was waiting for an internal study," he explained.

Adapun sistem MLFF sebelumnya telah ditetapkan sebagai PSN pada Mei 2024. Proyek tersebut masuk ke dalam 16 PSN baru yang kala itu ditetapkan di akhir masa kepemimpinan Presiden Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Namun demikian, implementasi sistem MLFF tetap menghadapi tantangan.

Program itu sempat dicanangkan uji coba di Tol Bali Mandara pada Desember 2023.

Namun, gagal lantaran sistem dinilai belum layak beroperasi pada ekosistem jalan tol nasional.

The MLFF system was previously designated as PSN in May 2024. The project was included in the new 16 PSNs which at that time were set at the end of President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) leadership.

However, the implementation of the MLFF system still faces challenges.

The program was launched a trial on the Bali Mandara Toll Road in December 2023.

However, it failed because the system was deemed unfit to operate in the national toll road ecosystem.
