JAKARTA - CEO of Danantara Indonesia Rosan Roeslani hopes that the government placement fund of IDR 200 trillion disbursed to the State Bank Association (Himbara) can be extended from the current six-month scheme.

The Himbara bank that received the placement of government funds is PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk; PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk; PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk; PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk; and PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk.

Rosan explained that the consideration of the funds could be saved longer because there was a credit given by the bank to customers for a long time.

"We are very grateful and appreciate the steps taken by the Ministry of Finance for providing this fund placement. But hopefully, the loan tenor is not only six months. Currently, the loan provided is only six months in the form of a deposit on call (DOC)," said Rosan at the Forbes Global CEO Conference 2025 event in Jakarta, Tuesday, October 14.

According to Rosan, with the tenor being too short, banks have the potential to face a mismatch if they distribute long-term loans. Meanwhile, medium to long-term loans are needed to encourage investment and productive financing, including in the MSME sector.

"If long-term loans are awarded, there is a potential mismatch that must be considered," he said.

For your information, the period for placing government funds in Himbara is regulated in the Decree of the Minister of Finance Number 276 of 2025 concerning the placement of funds amounting to Rp200 trillion.

In addition to the extension of the tenor, Rosan also highlighted the interest rate of the placement fund.

Where currently, interest or rate is in the range of 3.8 percent to 4 percent.

Meanwhile, the average banking fund is 2.44 percent.

Rosan also hopes that the interest rate of government placement funds can be lowered so that banks have room to channel credit to business actors by throwing away lower ones.

"If the rate can be lower, banks can distribute credit with lighter interest rates to MSME players, cooperatives, and other productive sectors. That way, the wheels of the economy can move faster," said Rosan.
