JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Ministry of Creative Economy (Ekraf), the Indonesian Blockchain Association (ABI), and BlockDeVID officially launched Infinity Hackathon 2025, a national innovation event that combines blockchain technology with the nation's creative spirit.
Hackathon is an event where developers, designers, and creative thinkers gather to work together and develop technology projects in a limited time. Hackathon provides an opportunity for individuals to demonstrate the ability to overcome challenges, develop solutions, and work together in teams. In addition, Hackathon is also a learning, growth, and network platform for the parties.
Carrying the theme Creative Economic Acceleration Through Digital Innovation & Decentralization, This hackathon is a platform for collaboration between regulators, communities, and industry players to develop blockchain solutions that are transparent, secure, and have a real impact on Indonesia's creative economy.
This activity aims to strengthen the foundations of national digital transformation through the exploration of Web3 technology, as well as encourage synergy between innovation, regulation, and sustainable funding.
Infinity Hackathon participants will compete to develop innovative ideas and prototypes that answer various challenges in the creative economy sector. The proposed project is expected to be able to provide solutions that protect digital copyright in a transparent manner, strengthen the supply chain of creative products to make them more efficient and accountable, and open new access to financing for creative actors through a decentralized financial system (DeFi).
This year, Infinity Hackathon presents five main focuses that reflect the great potential for blockchain implementation in the creative economy sector, ranging from the development of digital copyright verification systems, transparency of creative product supply chains, to exploration of DeFi-based creator financing systems. In addition, this hackathon also highlights opportunities for new business models through digital asset ownership as well as the inclusion of financial and entertainment technology in the gaming world.
The opening ceremony for the Infinity Hackathon 2025 was also attended by a number of important figures from across sectors, including Hasan Fawzi, Chief Executive of the Financial Sector Technology Innovation Supervisory, Digital Financial Assets and OJK Crypto Assets, Muhammad Neil El Himam, Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology of the Ministry of Creative Economy / Creative Economy Agency; Ery Punta, Assistant Special Envoy for the President for MSMEs, Creative Economy, and Digital Economy, Djoko Kurnijanto, Head of the Department of Financial Sector Technology Regulation and Licensing, Digital Financial Assets and OJK Crypto Assets; Asih Karnengsih, Executive Director of the Indonesian Blockchain Association; and William Sutanto who is also the Founder of BlockDevid.

This activity is a concrete follow-up to the memorandum of understanding between OJK and Kemenekraf, which is now being realized through competitions with the theme of technology development and blockchain innovation. Through Infinity Hackathon, we want to strengthen the digital ecosystem in the creative economy sector, including encouraging the emergence of new funding schemes, potential job creation, as well as connectivity between innovators and industry players," he said.
Asih Karnengsih said that the government needs to pay more attention to the funding aspect for blockchain workers and players in the blockchain industry in Indonesia.
Many developers and creators have good projects and have impacts, but it is difficult to survive due to limited access to funding. We hope that in the future there will be more initiatives that bridge innovation and sustainability," he said, through a press release, Monday, October 13, 2025.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Neil El Himam emphasized that Infinity Hackathon is expected to be a bridge to the intellectual property-based financing ecosystem (intellectic property-based financing) in the creative economy sector.
He added that blockchain has the potential to become an 'internet of value' that is able to become the foundation of the future of Indonesia's fair, inclusive, and global competitive creative economy.
"Together we create blockchain as the foundation of the world-class Indonesian creative economy," he said.
Djoko Kurnijanto emphasized that Infinity Hackathon is a real continuation of the cooperation between OJK and Kemenekraf.
"We hope that this program can continue every year so that Indonesia can play an active role in the development of renewable technology, especially blockchain," he said.
This year, Infinity Hackathon 2025 also received support from various global strategic partners, including Tether, Amazon Web Service (AWS), Gitlab, and Bybit who are committed to supporting the development of the blockchain and Web3 ecosystem in Indonesia through education, technical assistance, and career development opportunities for digital talent.
This cross-sector collaboration is expected to strengthen connectivity between the creative industry, technology players, and regulators to build an inclusive and sustainable digital future.
More than just competition, the Infinity Hackathon 2025 is a symbol of synergy between the government, industry and the community in accelerating the transformation of Indonesia's digital economy. Through this hackathon, real solutions are expected that are not only innovative but also sustainable, inclusive, and relevant to the needs of creative economy actors in the digital era.
