Workers Want To Boycott Indomaret, Anthony Salim's Subordinate Of Conglomerate Believes Customers Will Not Run Away To Competitors

JAKARTA - PT Indomarco Prismatama as the company managing Indomaret's modern retailer conveyed the threat of a boycott from workers. The company believes all parties can think and act clearly.

"We think everyone can think and act clearly and proportionally," said Indomarco Marketing Director Prismatama Wiwiek Yusuf, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, May 18.

Thus, the company owned by conglomerate Anthony Salim believes there is no significant concern from the retail management, which has 18,603 outlets throughout Indonesia, including if consumers will run to competing retailers.

"We still think positively," said Wiwiek.

He added that retail which is scattered in strategic places in various regions will continue to strive to improve better services.

"We always try to get better service," said Wiwiek.

It is known that the President of the Federation of Indonesian Metal Workers Unions (FSPMI) Riden Hatam Aziz threatened to instruct workers to boycott all Indomaret products.

It started because an Indomaret employee, who is also an FSPMI member named Anwar Bessy, demanded that the 2020 holiday allowance (THR) was not paid in full.

Anwar was later convicted because he was said to have damaged a facility belonging to Indomarco Prismatama.

In his statement, Wiwiek emphasized that Indomarco Prismatama has never been in arrears in the THR payments to employees, which has happened for more than 30 years.

"Their rights are given according to government regulations," he said.

Meanwhile Wiwiek stated that his party would still process the case of damage that was done by one of his employees in 2020.
