JAKARTA - Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Eniya Listiani Dewi, revealed that the government plans to build Solar Power Plants (PLTS) for cold storage facilities for fishermen.
"Our fishermen now want cold storage because the harvest is large and still want to be sold elsewhere and this is often constrained," said Eniya in his presentation at the Indonesia Energy Transition Dialogue (IETD) 2025 in Jakarta, Monday, October 6.
Eniya said that the installation of PLTS for cold storage was part of the 100 GW PLTS development program initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.
Not only that, continued Eniya, this program will also be aligned with the solar panel project with a capacity of around 1 MW-1.5 MW in each village. Eniya hopes that this project can create large demand from the business sector.
"So, our demand creation looks at it, for example, the use of photovoltaics in cold storage," continued Eniya.
In addition to cold storage, Eniya said that PLTS also has the potential to be developed to become a source of electricity for fishing boats that will be equipped with batteries as energy storage.

Eniya said that during one of her visits, she often got stories from fishermen regarding the waste of diesel use for lighting fishermen in the middle of the sea
"So it is used for lighting and this is very effective so that small programs like this we will address yes in the use of 100 photovoltaic giga," said Eniya.
