Prayer With Online Ojek Drivers, Rieke Diah Pitaloka Encourages Ratification Of Presidential Regulations Regarding The Protection Of Platform Workers

Around 500 online motorcycle taxi drivers gathered at the Proclamation Monument on Wednesday, September 3, to pray together for Indonesia's current condition.

Joint prayers were carried out by various online motorcycle taxi communities from the Jakarta area and its surroundings, including the Indonesian Transport Workers Union (SPAI), Online Drivers' Union (SPEED), East Ambulance Team (TAT), Silaturahmi Forum 19 (FORSIL 19), LINKOM Pulogadung, Team Santuy, Sobar Nyender, Maxim Online, MJ Central Jakarta, Friends of Ojol, East Jakarta Gograber DPW, Central Jakarta Gograber DPW andrah.

In addition to praying together for Indonesia's current condition, the online motorcycle taxi driver community also prays together for the death of their colleague who died while carrying out his job in the midst of a demonstration on August 28, Affan Kurniawan.

Also present at the event were Member of Commission VI DPR RI, Rieke Diah Pitaloka who delivered an oration and accommodated the aspirations of online motorcycle taxi drivers. Rieke is committed to encouraging the revision of the Manpower Act and the issuance of a legal umbrella for platform workers in Indonesia.

"It's time for a decent job perspective not to be limited to work like in factories. In line with the changing times and technological advances, there are other sectors, namely informal workers such as online motorcycle taxi drivers. Therefore, I think it is necessary to revise the employment law," said Rieke.

Reflecting on the incident that happened to Affan Kurniawan, Rieke also conveyed how important employment social security is.

"With an allowance of 16,800, you can get a Work Accident Guarantee and Death Security. An additional 20,000 participants can get an additional Old Age Guarantee," said Rieke.

On this occasion, Rieke provided employment social security protection for 100 online motorcycle taxi drivers by paying dues for the next 1 year. Furthermore, Rieke encouraged the DKI Jakarta Provincial government to be able to issue regulations related to the protection of employment social security for informal workers in the DKI Jakarta area.

On the same occasion, the Head of the DKI Jakarta BPJS Employment Regional Office, Deny Yusyulian, also conveyed BPJS Employment compensation for the protection obtained by online motorcycle taxi drivers who died during last August's demonstration.

"When we heard the news, we were proactive to check the database related to the participation of Mr. Affan and Alhamdulillah have become participants. Therefore, there is an inherent right, namely job accident guarantee compensation of 70 million for heirs," said Deny.

Deny added that no one wants to experience the risk of work accidents or death. However, this risk can occur at any time and the state has guaranteed protection through BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

"BPJS Ketenagakerjaan untuk pekerja informal memiliki 3 program yaitu Jaman Kecelakaan Kerja (JKK), Jaminan Kematian (Jaminan Kematian) dan Jaminan Hari Tua (JHT) dengan iuran hanya sebesar 36.800 rupiah. Oleh karena itu, kami harap seluruh pekerja informal dapat dilindungi program ketenagakerjaan sosial," tutup Deny.
