PT Timah Will Order Mining Partners To Prevent Illegal Mining Activities

PANGKAL PINANG - PT Timah Tbk (TINS) is preparing a number of ways to prevent illegal mining practices in its mining business permit area (IUP).

Director of Business Development of PT Timah, Suhendra Yusuf Ratuprawiranegara said, in fact PT Timah has prepared a number of short-term strategies, one of which is by controlling current mining partners. He explained, by controlling mining partners, PT Timah could prevent illegal mining practices, to misuse of mining products.

The control that will be carried out is by updating a number of clauses in the mining contract.

"From the directorate that I hold, there is one requirement that I see there, like it or not, we can adjust it there in clauses, for example, our agreement with partners," he said at a media meeting in Pangkal Pinang, quoted on Sunday, August 24.

He added that the clauses that will be improved include the addition of production targets that must be met by mining partners and the mining results will be fully carried out by PT Timah.

Suhendra explained, so far PT Timah has never required mining partners to meet the quota target. For this reason, with the lead backup data owned, teah companies have calculations related to the daily to monthly mining volume that partners can do.

"So far, there is no obligation for partners to, for example, in the context of volume per day, how much can be submitted per month. There is a formulation. We can use that formulation. And this is what I tried to do when I entered PT Timah," he explained.

With this target, Suhendra ensured that he would also impose a sistim reward and punishment for those who meet targets and partners who are unable to meet the targets set by the company. For companies that fail to meet the quota, Suhendra said he would evaluate the company's performance.

"If it is achieved, we will give the reward with a gradation. That applies to, especially what I know here is KIP partners. The production Isap ship that reaches the target is over the target. Like it or not, we give awards through that price gradation," he said.
