Secure Eid Al-Fitr Moment In Jakarta, PLN Prepares Post And 20 Power Bank Units

JAKARTA - Facing Eid al-Fitr 14421 Hijri or 2021, PLN Main Distribution Unit Jakarta Raya conducts electricity supply alert in the capital and surrounding areas on May 6 to 21, 2021. Electricity in Jakarta will be supplied from 6 electrical subsystems with a total capacity of 10,315 Mega Watts (MW) through 59 substations of 150 kilo Volts (kV) and 20 KV.

General Manager of PLN Main Distribution Unit Jakarta Raya Doddy B. Pangaribuan said the peak electricity load ever achieved was 4,938 MW in 2020. The realization of peak load during Eid al-Fitr 2020 is 3,038 MW at 21.00 WIB. Meanwhile, the predicted peak electricity load during Eid al-Fitr 2021 on May 13, 2021 is 3,103 MW.

"Our prediction for the peak load of Eid al-Fitr is an increase of 2 percent compared to last year," he said in an official statement, Monday, May 10.

In terms of adequate supply, Doddy ensures electricity during Eid al-Fitr in Jakarta and surrounding areas in a safe and adequate condition. Completing the standby in the face of Eid al-Fitr, PLN prepared 2,356 personnel, 17 posts, 17 mobile substation units, 6 detection car units, 4 mobile cable units, 20 power bank units, and 4 crane units. Before the standby period PLN ensures the condition of supporting equipment in good condition and ready to operate.

"Every day, PLN is always ready and ready to maintain the reliability of the electricity supply. However, on certain big days the alert is increased," he said.

Doddy said that during the Eid al-Fitr alert, no planned work would require a power outage except in urgent or force major conditions. Referral hospitals and supporting facilities for handling COVID-19 in Jakarta and surrounding areas also remain on standby with 2 voltage sources.

Furthermore, Doddy said the standby officer also always applies health protocols by using a mask, washing hands or wearing a hand sanitizer, keeping a distance, and avoiding crowds.

Monitoring in Eid al-Fitr is certainly mosques in Jakarta and its surroundings and the main monitoring is Istiqlal Mosque, Central Jakarta. Istiqlal Mosque is supplied from 2 different power sources whose reliability is the same. If there are constraints from the main source, it is immediately redirected to the backup source. Istiqlal Mosque is also equipped with Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) power of 40 kVA to make the electricity voltage more stable.

"For mosques and other houses of worship whose electricity is less able to utilize added power efficiently in the Ramadhan Berkah program from PLN," he said.

Through the Ramadan Berkah program, said Doddy, houses of worship can increase their electricity by paying only Rp150,000 with a final power option of 2200 to 11,000 VA. The power increase can be done in PLN Mobile application until May 31, 2021.
