JAKARTA - Tanjung Priok Customs and Excise together with the Indonesian Navy failed the income of 775 balpres containers or used bags and bags worth IDR 1.51 billion in the Tanjung Priok Port area, North Jakarta.

Director General of Customs and Excise, Lt. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Djaka Budhi Utama said the prosecution of illegal imported goods was carried out to protect the domestic textile industry. Because, if left unchecked, it will have an impact on the Indonesian economy.

"Currently we are intensively handling related to the handling of illegal goods that can damage the domestic industry. For example, the textile industry is currently experiencing slump, so we need to take steps to deal with this problem," he said at a press conference at Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta, Thursday, August 14.

The action was carried out from Saturday 9 August to Tuesday 12 August in three strategic locations, namely the 212 Domestic Cadet (the unloading location), the TPS TER3 (the scanning location) import scanner tool, and the CDC Banda TPS (the location for hoarding and inspection of goods).

The action was carried out starting with information from the West Kalimantan Customs and Excise Regional Office on Saturday, August 9, the results of the case development and information collection of the Indonesian Navy Task Force, as well as the results of intelligence on the Tanjung Priok Customs and Excise Office, it was detected that seven containers were indicated to be loaded with balpres on the KM Eagle Mas V.1225 ship. "It is estimated that the value of the goods is IDR 1.51 billion," said Nirwala.

After the examination, continued Nirwala, officers prevented and sealed the three containers, to further conduct further research to find evidence of customs crime.

"On these findings, the perpetrator is suspected of violating Article 103 letter d and Article 102 letter a of Law no. 17 of 2006 concerning Customs in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code concerning inclusion," he said.

Sekadar informasi, penindakan balpres di Tanjung Priok ini menambah daftar panjang upaya Bea Cukai dalam memberantas peredaran ballpress ilegal.

Sepanjang tahun 2024 hingga 2025, Bea Cukai telah melakukan 2.584 kali penindakan dengan total barang bukti sebanyak 12.808 koli dan perkiraan nilai barang mencapai Rp49,44 miliar.
