Deputy Minister Sudaryono Ensures That Milk Consumes MBG Program For Local Products Is Not Imported

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Agriculture (Wamentan), Sudaryono said, the government is encouraging increased local milk production to meet national needs, especially to support children's nutrition in the Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG).

He made this statement when he inaugurated and reviewed the biogas facility owned by PT Greenfields Dairy Indonesia in Blitar, East Java, Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

"Susu akan menjadi emerging market karena kebutuhan besar. Yang harus kita pastikan, milk yang diumumkan anak-anak adalah produk lokal, bukan impor," ucap Sudaryono dalam keterangannya.

He emphasized the importance of utilizing cattle waste as renewable energy and strengthening partnerships between people's breeders and the local dairy processing industry. This is considered crucial to support the success of the MBG Program which is being intensified by the government.

"The milk is a source of animal protein whose efficacy is very good, both in terms of content and absorption by the body, which is better," continued Sudaryono.

Sudaryono also encouraged the expansion of the partnership between dairy cattle breeders and the dairy processing industry, as has been done by PT Greenfields Dairy Indonesia.

Then in terms of energy, the Greenfields biogas facility, which has an area of 12,000 square meters, is referred to as the largest biogas reactor in the dairy cattle farm sector in Indonesia.

This facility is able to manage waste from around 10,000 cows every day. "The waste is not only processed into biogas, but also into fertilizers and cage materials that have economic value," he said.

Dia menambahkan, sektor pangan tidak boleh hanya dipandang dari sisi beras semata.

"Pangan itu termasuk protein dari semua menu dalam satu piring. Yang belum swasembada adalah daging dan susu. Artinya, kita masih impor. Presiden ingin impor kita dikurangi dan produksi dalam negeri ditingkatkan," tegasnya.

Sudaryono menekankan, seluruh program pembangunan pertanian nasional, termasuk penguatan industri susu lokal, harus berorientasi pada tiga fokus utama pemerintah, yakni peningkatan investasi, penciptaan lapangan kerja, dan pengentasan kemiskinan.

He added that the food sector should not only be seen from the side of rice alone.

"The food includes protein from all menus in one plate. What is not yet self-sufficiency is meat and milk. This means that we are still importing. The President wants our imports to be reduced and domestic production to be increased," he said.

Sudaryono emphasized that all national agricultural development programs, including strengthening the local dairy industry, must be oriented to three main focuses of the government, namely increasing investment, creating jobs, and poverty alleviation.
