The Ministry Of Transportation Claims That Community Mobility Decreased Significantly During The Prohibition Of Eid Homecoming

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Ministry of Transportation, Adita Irawati, said that based on the results of monitoring of transportation control on the first day of the homecoming ban yesterday, the number of transportation and passenger movements decreased significantly compared to before the prohibition period.

She noted, on land transportation bus passengers reached a total of 10.644 people, down about 75 percent compared to normal days.

Meanwhile, the daily traffic volume (motorbikes, passenger cars, and large cars) using non-toll national roads heading out of Jabodetabek reached more than 68.000 vehicles or decreased by around 48 percent compared to normal days.

Furthermore, in air transportation, of the 12 monitoring airports, there were 270 departing flights, down 82.7 percent from normal days.

Meanwhile, the number of passengers who made departure trips reached around 3.856 people or decreased by around 96.2 percent compared to normal days.

Then, train transportation of passenger movements reached 17.220 passengers, down 71 percent from the number of passengers the day before.

When compared with the average passenger from April 22 to May 5, the number of train passengers on Thursday fell 63 percent.

Meanwhile in sea transportation, for inter-island ports, there are 2.048 passengers or a decrease of 88 percent compared to normal days from the 51 ports monitored.

"The significant decrease in passenger volume in all modes of transportation can be indicated, first, that the community has traveled first during the Pre-Homecoming Abolition period, or second, the level of community compliance with the regulations on eliminating homecoming in 2021", said Adita in an official statement, Friday, May 7.

She added, from monitoring the implementation of transportation control on the first day yesterday, the implementation of health protocols in public transportation infrastructure and facilities went quite well.

"The insulation carried out by officers at a number of points has been good and will continue to be optimized", she concluded.
